Firstly, the friendly and attentive service at this restaurant is always exceptional whether flat out busy or not. We have been here several times with family and friends over the past few years, and always love the food and dishes on the feed me menu....Good to see they get changed from time to time, but the most recent visit we had the Chilli Caramel kangaroo tail which was incredible. Always love popping down to the cellar to choose our own red wine and starting the meal with one of the hundreds of Gin's they have on the menu. Visiting once with a vegan friend, we were amazed at the vegan options they looked incredible. Always a winner in our eyes.
I ordered the octopus and Ahlia our waitress, noticed I was struggling with cutting it. She bought over a sharper knife and suggested that if i wasn't happy with my meal, to return it and order something else. I did, and ordered whiting it came...out within minutes, it was delicious. Ahlia returned to the table to checked on my meal several times, she was also warm and friendly. When we received the account, I wasn't charged for either of my meals. I was so surprised, what an exceptional restaurant, to offer such service. I'm from the Barossa, however McLaren Vale has got a return customer.
Service fantastic, staff so friendly and helpful and the food superb! We had the Can’t decide, feed me, option. It was excellent value and all plates were exquisite. Kangaroo tartare, kingfish sashimi, dumplings, ocra tempura, garfish with labna and salad, lemon sorbet followed by beautiful...sirloin steak from Strathalbyn with kipfler potatoes and a radicchio and rocket salad. Ahhhhhh Devine and then finally a coconut custard with strawberry sorbet to finish. Definitely worth a visit for this excellent lunch. All washed down with a lovely local Pinot Grigio and sparkling water.
with a group of eight. would like to have offered a la carte menu, but had to have fed me menu. not impressed by the selection of the diners on this menu. the fish found to be quite gumy and the chicken boiled over. service was excellent. but was a little surprised that you were asked to sit outside, because another group needed our table. we all had to hunt for happiness. was already in the salopian inn and loved our experience. will not return.

My wife and I ducked in here for a quick bite while on a wine tour and were really impressed with what we experienced. Service was great, food was fresh, simple and not over complicated like we seem to come across a bit these days....We had the gnocci and japanese pankcake, both were delicious and maximised the flavours of the local products. Spot on offering from the Salopian Inn Team, keep it simple and do it well!
What a joy to find this restaurant. The service and food and value for money was first rate. We loved all the Asian influences in the entrees….the dumplings and calamari were superb. After Covid so many vineyard restaurants have gone down the path of set...3 or 5 course set lunch menus, so it was a pleasant change to order how much we wanted a la Carte.
Really great night with our group of 10, fixed menu option, which was fantastic. Staff service was excellent, couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. Great venue with a long history as an Inn or hostelry. Had a separate area and choosing your own wine...from the cellar a great option. Couldn’t have eaten any more, everything was delicious.
my wife and I came to lunch to celebrate our 60th anniversary with our son and daughter-in-law, her 3 children and a daughter-in-law friend. the food was great and also the service that the staff provided under the lead of bianca was the first price.

only for Friday night tap with nibbeln. we have seen some of the best olives ever, meaty, large, salted and delicious. the brot is wonderful to do with salt-sawed. then chips to rival and my personal favorite, noodle. absolutely loved. it!
birthday party with my son. excellent eating, great atmosphere. I tasted eating with so many different flavors that I had not experienced before
