A brilliant pub a short walk from the city centre. It may look unimposing from outside but is really nice and cosy inside. There is two seating sides with the bar in-between them, a nice gas fire and secluded seatind one side and a more open general pub layout the other side. The staff and landlady were very nice and friendly and the food we had was extremely good and plentiful for the price. They had a nice ale on tap and good selection of all other drinks. As it happens, several of my work colleagues have visited, stating they had both a great experience and food. As soon as lock-down is finished my family will revisit a lot more. A real gem.
Stayed 2 nights Lovely B&B ran by a family who couldn’t do enough for you I’d booked a double and was upgraded on arrival to The Apartment on the top floor. The hotel and bar is kept spotlessly clean although they didn’t do breakfast I didn’t eat in but was informed by regulars meals were very good, I can guarantee all beers and drinks were spot on. Parking is free on the doorstep in Kingston retail park which has cctv the hotel forwards your car reg details. It’s handily placed for shopping restaurants in old town and marina. I can definitely recommend it and will definitely stay again in the future.
After traveling throughout the UK, we can confidently say that this is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The room was stunning, spotless, and roomy, and offered fantastic value for money. We are eager to sample the food, as we have heard glowing reviews. The location, right on the marina, offers a lovely walk with amenities close by. The hosts were friendly, down-to-earth, and extremely helpful. We cannot recommend this place enough—it has even convinced me to make a return trip from my home in South Wales.
Well I visited with my wife and stepdaughter and as usual, was warmly greeted. This is a fabulous place to dine and has rooms above too. The bar is in the middle and splits the ground floor into two halves, one more pub like and the other more restaurant like. As usually the food was fantastic and plentiful, couldn't move after my steak and ale pie which was stuffed full of steak. Fantastic food and so reasonably priced. We were staying nearby and heard positive reviews about this restaurant, so we decided to try it out. We're so glad we did! The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. The prices were much lower compared to other restaurants in the area, but honestly, I would be willing to pay more for the quality and quantity of food. The staff was excellent and they had a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. We will definitely visit again if we're in the area!
We've always wanted to visit The Whittington Cat as it's owned by the same lady who owns The Railway Inn at New Ellerby our favourite spot to eat out. Well as I expected The Whittington Cat is most definitely on a par with The Railway. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish, a great home cooked menu served by the attentive and pleasant landlady, her son daughter who delivered great customer service. We can't wait to come back and see you again.
Warm welcoming, lovely rooms and suites. The food is really good pub food and there are a great bunch of staff and regulars in the bar. I'd recommend to anyone for a drink, lunch or dinner or a stay in a part of Hull that includes some other great bars, cafes and restaurants.
