It 's a no from me. Service is abrupt and not welcoming, I was told and heard practically everyone that came in after me to hold on a minute when I walked in and said hello. Usually the reply is hello back. The manager/owner I think is on a little bit of a power trip, and I felt awkward listening to him dishing out orders to his young staff team, which was constant. I also heard him recounting the issue also reviewed here where a poor girl was compared/described as The yellow power ranger and Chun Li . Having seen and heard good reviews we booked dinner. Booking was very simple. The menu wasn’t huge but appeared to have a good gluten free options as my wife is coeliac. On arrival we were taken to our table. Wine menu was provided, all bottles averaging £30. So we placed our order. When the gentleman came to take our food order we were told that three main options, steak, lamb and pork sewers we not available. Therefore not leaving much to order on gluten free. No steak on a Saturday at 7pm!! We were told they had fish on gf! This is a positive as not many places have gluten free battered fish. When the order was placed and the cutlery was bought out to us we were asked “is this knife ok”!...
We attend the wine room for food in the evening. Its a tapas type menu at this time. Obviously, I looked at reviews online and checked out the menu. All seems good. Some good reviews and ratings. So I ordered chicken balls, bravas, bread and squid (to share between two people). The prices below are indicative of the menu. The bread was a bit stale and only had 5 pieces and cost £5. The chicken balls were one chicken breast cut into 4 with a tempora batter. This cost £9. The Bravas was served in a ramekin dish and was tiny £8. Tasted lovely. We were here to celebrate our friends 40th wedding anniversary. Everything was absolutely brilliant. We've visited on many previous occasions and never been disappointed, including a wake. The sole use of the upstairs bar, with verandah is really spacious and well laid out. As you would expect the wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. But the crowning glory was the amazing buffet. Poached salmon, fresh bread, scummy sausage rolls all perfectly presented. Staff are rude, food was average but not worth the money. You can tell a lot of stuff comes frozen and nothing is fresh or locally sourced. When questioning wine staff seemed to have no clue on it. What’s the point in it being a wine room if your staff have no clue. Also very slow service and no one seems organised.
Had the upstairs for a private party to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary on 23/04/2023, Bee did an amazing buffet for us, which was commented on by our guests. Also a big thank you to Peter and his staff for looking after us so well. The evening was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks again Debbie Mark
Four of us went to the Wine Room for a bottomless brunch. The service was great, and staff were very attentive. The food was also very nice! We would definitely visit the Wine Room again!

Great atmosphere and friendly welcome. Wonderful wine and excellent food. Best place to eat in Mapperley. If you're around Mapperley, give them a visit. Venue is also dog friendly
