Thirsty's is the bar that every establishment hopes to be. While some places may achieve it, most do not. There is something truly special about a tavern that welcomes everyone without any need for pretense. The patrons and bartenders are welcoming to both newcomers and regulars, remembering names and treating everyone with respect. The diverse crowd at 8 State Street in Pittsford includes people from all walks of life. During my visit, both alone in the afternoon and with my wife in the evening after flying in from Milwaukee, I felt like I had found a second home. This establishment, which has been functioning as a tavern for 200 years, since 1824, was called Warner's Tavern in the 1820s, Windy's Town Tavern in the 1920s, Scoop Hazel in the 1930s, and Tallo's Town Tavern in the 1960s, before it became Thirsty's in 1971.
