I'm a huge fan of ramen houses, always have to stop into one when I am in Toronto. When I found out they finally have one open in Moncton, we made a trip to Moncton to give it a try but sadly was disappointed. We order the tonkotsu, nagasaki and had a bibibop. The broth for both ramen dishes were salted so heavily (probably over reduced), it completely ruin the dish. You can't taste any of the flavors other than the salt, I couldn't even finish the dish, I had to add some water to the broth just so I can eat the ramen. This was my first time at this restaurant, and won't be my last - sadly, I live in Halifax, so won't make it here often. I stopped in for lunch on my own during a business trip, and was promptly (and warmly) greeted and seated. I've not been exposed to much Korean food, but the bibimbob looked interesting, healthy, and a "safe" option so I ordered that with beef. It arrived shortly after ordering, with a side of miso soup and a bottle of sauce. We popped in for a bit of sustenance on a fun day out in downtown Moncton recently and very happy we did. Yes, it's basic inside in terms of decor but the atmosphere was very convivial, and the service friendly and helpful. We loved our choices -- mine was veggie with my choice of seafood added, and my partner had the tofu ramen. We had fun comparing the delicious flavours of the broth. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I love this healthful style of eating and though I'm not that familiar with all the subtleties of Ramen, this was a great first experience and will look forward to stopping by here again soon to explore the menu a bit more.
I'd never really had Ramen before trying Tokai. This is my 2nd visit and I'm having the Tantan again. If you're like me and enjoy PB in your cuisine, you will not be disappointed! It really elevates the flavours of the broth. It is visually appealing; each bite is different and every time a flavour burst. The egg was perfectly cooked. The veggies tasted like they'd been seared which really adds flavour. Let me add that the veggies were plentiful. Service was prompt and courteous. Only disappointment was that my friend could not join me for lunch! caveat; be ready to sit through some serious musak.
Went with some coworkers to try this place out. Was pleasantly surprised at the great taste. Decided to take my wife for a second visit and try a different dish. The food tastes great and the servers are professional & friendly. The dining area is small and lacks atmosphere. It can be difficult to find the restaurant while walking by because it occupies a small window-front. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and I will likely return for more visits in the future.
If you want to experience and great ambiance, some very well made ramen soups and a great service this is the place. I went there twice and both times were fantastic. Had the pork ramen the first time and it was tremendous. The second time I went I asked for something spicy and the server recommended the spicy chicken ramen...I asked for extra spicy and I wasn't disappointed for it was truly the best soup ever!
I've eaten Ramen all over North America and this place has a lighter and delicious broth. Quite progressive in that they have a gluten free noodle option?! Nice. A lot of side dish options. Good service, very clean. Spotless restroom that is accessible. If you're going to the capitol theatre they're next door.
We were delighted to have dinner at Tokai Ramen. We really enjoyed the gyozas and ramen. The menu has great variety and each of our choices were great. Service was very good, the owners incredibly friendly, dish presentation outstanding. Definitely a good pick!
We visit Tokai Ramen at lunch time. I wasn't disappointed at all. We ordered suki and it was really fresh, hot and full of taste. We recommend this place.
