Wir bestellten eine gegrillte Sushi-Platte, Una Don, Soba und den Cremed gegrillten Mais. Ich war ein bisschen traurig, als die gegrillte Sushi-Platte nur mit Lachs und Eisfish herauskam, und keine Jakobsmuscheln (das Bild auf dem Menü zeigte alle drei Arten auf der Platte). It seems to be a norm in Sydney for Japanese restaurants to be owned by Koreans. Maybe it's the overlap in cultures, or maybe they just want to try something different - either way, no judgement as long as I get my fix when I walk in.
At Torin, the best thing I can say about it is that I didn't not get my fix. Sure, they deliver the most basic level of what you'd expect (which is more than I can say for some places) but nothing more, and fairly overpriced, as is many things on this side of the station.
The menu doesn't have that much variety either, and the service, whilst polite, wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming.

Tried this place, after craving Japanese food and looking for a local place with a friend. Stumbled upon this, which was new to us. Greeted by a rather old man (appears to be the manager?), and who gave a lot of attention to us. Place was not too busy for a Sunday night, definitely good place for a normal conversation without having to shout or keep your ears peeled.
Ordered the chicken katsu don ($15.5) which was a little on the pricey side for a katsu don. Had the spider roll for $17.5, and fine, this was definitely pushing in price. The reason I remembered this restaurant well was for two reasons - 1) this was the only Japanese restaurant on this side of Rowe street while every single other shop was Korean; 2) the moment I pushed the door open with my partner at the time, all the eyes landed on him as he was the only token white person there. It was amusing the way they stared at him, I had good laughs at his expense! The food was typical standard Japanese food. I had tempura udon which was good - broth was tasty, tempura was crispy, and udon noodles were chewy. My partner had bento box with a bit of everything. Sashimi tasted fresh. We couldn't really faulty it and it was reasonably price....

The food at Torin is nice but nothing special in my opinion, but are presented really nicely. The dishes are fresh and quite tasty and is a great place to go for a quick lunch. They have a number of lunch sets that aren't too expensive and have quite abit to them. I would say the rest of the menu is quite pricey in comparison to places like sushi hotaru (where sushi plates are $3.30 each). 6 takoyaki balls costed me $8 alone.
I would say if you do want to this place, go during lunch so you can grab one of the sets.

Das Menü ist einfach, aber appetitlich japanisches Essen - auch Koreanisch. Ich empfehle den Ausprobieren des Lachssalats.
Ging an einem Freitagabend mit Freunden und Familie. Bestellt einen gemischten Meeresfrüchten-Hotpot, wartete, dass 20 Minuten 49 Dollar gezahlt wurden, erhielt ein paar Fische, Pilze und etwas Tofu. Der Rest meines Tisches bestellte andere Gerichte, die auch kleine und summengleiche Qualität waren. Nicht empfehlen ?????????
Essen ist anständig, nicht toll, aber es ist nicht schlecht. Der Besitzer ist freundlich und das Essen ist frisch, der Service ist gut, aber die Preise ist etwas teuer. Wir waren 4 mal hier und jedes Mal, wenn es nicht so schlimm war.

Ein kurzer Mittagspause Nach ein paar Stunden Einkaufen in Eastwood las mich Torin in Eastwood in. Das Essen war frisch, gut präsentiert und erschwinglich. A muss versuchen, wenn Sie jemals im Eastwood-Gebiet sind.
