After Hurricane Fiona, I was left without power and could not make coffee at home. After a few days of coffee deprivation, I was desperate for a good cup. Tim Hortons and Robin's were closed due to outages, and I’ve never been a fan of their coffee anyway—I prefer my own brew. However, The Ugly Mug was open! The line was long, but I understood that it wasn’t their fault. I decided to wait and ordered a large dark roast. We took a slight detour on our way to Sydney to check out this cafe. We were not disappointed. Great service, delicious lattes and selection of hot and cold dishes. We chose the hot pastry things that looked like sausage rolls, yum!It has a really quirky vibe, mix of clientele, some social, some working on laptops in a really welcome environment. Loved the emporium, great gifts.
After a week of exploring the entire island, we decided to stop at the Ugly Mug for a quick caffeine fix. Without a doubt, it served the best coffee we had during our trip. The scones, croissant breakfast sandwiches, and muffins were all fantastic as well. This place is a must-visit!
Oh, I don't want to make it any busier at the shop but I do want them to succeed! I had a fabulously yummy vanilla chai and a cranberry scone in store and brought cinnamon rolls back for a night snack. Lovely environment, great staff, delicious, delightful treats. Go there! Today, I had my first visit to this fantastic café. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. My lunch was delightful — the spring rolls were delicious! There were so many options for both hot and cold drinks, as well as baked goods. I will definitely be returning!
Ugly Mug is a fantastic spot to gather with friends. They offer a wide range of interesting crafts for sale, and the café itself is excellent. It also has a license, so you can enjoy beer, wine, or specialty coffees while you're there. Food: 5/5
Have been here a few times now in past few months. Just never thought to come here but now I’m hooked! Great staff and nice vibes, and boy the baked goods are delicious, the best scones and cinnamon rolls in CBRM!!!!

I've never had a bad experience with any of the drinks, snacks, or meals here. The staff are incredibly friendly. It's definitely the best coffee shop in town!
