The Valley has been our "go to" for special occasions for many years but of late it was getting a bit stale. Knowing about the new ownership and the connection to Cafe Amore we went for our traditional anniversary dinner. Mackenzie may be new but he is growing into a very good wait staff. We started off with a two different red wines and both were excellent choices. The Greek salad was very tasty and the mussels were well presented in a light but flavourful broth. We both ordered the Italian Platter so that we could taste their fettuccine, lasagna and chicken or veal. If you're in the mood for delicious, creative, and fresh Italian cuisine, this is the restaurant for you. The food is incredible, fresh, and served in generous portions. Despite not living in the area, my experience dining here twice was excellent both times. One small issue I had was when I made a reservation and mentioned that we were celebrating a 60th birthday with friends. Upon arrival, the hostess inquired about the birthday and placed a birthday sign in front of our guest. While we enjoyed our food and drinks, our server asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. My husband and I made an online reservation asking for a nice quiet table so that we could celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, we were seated in a corner in the room to the left which was nice and cozy. Our server was an older woman with short blonde hair, (she did not introduce herself). She blurted out the house specials in a manner that was half forgetful while winging the rest. She seemed rushed (a large table of 12 was being seated in the corner in her dining area). I have now had the pleasure of dining twice at this lovely little restaurant. My first visit I enjoyed a very savoury tasty dish of Portabella mushroom cannelloni while my husband had Gorgonzola gnocchi which they gladly added chicken to, at his request. My second visit I enjoyed a lovely dish of chicken penne with sun-dried tomatoes, basil creamy pesto sauce and lots of garlic. My husband had the lemon lime Veal dish which he said was wonderful, tasty and extremely tender. My Husband and I went to The Valley for a nice romantic dinner. My first thought was how cozy and relaxed the atmosphere was.Our server Liz, was very nice. She was attentive and knowledgeable.We had three appetizers, the garlic shrimp , garlic bread and deep fried provalone! They were all delicious. My Husband had the filet mignon for his entree and I was recommended the Italian platter. Both meals were flavorful and well presented. The wine selection is impressive at the Valley, the Pino Grigio by the glass is delicious! We were visited by the new owners during our meal to make sure everything was perfect . My Husband and I are looking forward to going back to try more dishes!
Dropped in with good friends last night and enjoyed a lovely evening at this establishment.Medium sized restaurant broken in two halves meaning it’s cosy. Nice soft mood. Service was attentive and excellent and our main server Carlene did a bang-up job.I had a mussels starter - they were good and a nice sauce. The dunking bread matched well. May main course was halibut - quality very good - and nicely matched by new red spuds. Dessert excellent and the gratuitous digestif a nice touch.My wife had a portobello mushroom cannelloni which was large and she raved about!Great find.
Recently we dinned at this amazing restaurant now owned by the great family that owns Cafe Amore. We had a great dinner the food was superb and the ambiance is just perfect for that perfect celebration.We have to thank the new owners Nadia & Alan Sawotsky for the unexpected surprise that was waiting for our arrival, the Charcuterie Platter was delicious, the couple with us were really taken back and loved all the food. This outstanding gem is hidden near the end of Arthur street in St Catharines. Its been here forever and always provided great homemade food. Recently it was purchased by the owners of Cafe Amore, who have left it intact with a few added dishes previously not on the menu. Service, Wine selection, Food were all top notch. There is a level of comfort dining in this place, reminiscent of eating in a local restaurant in a small european town. The Valley Restaurant is a winner.
My two daughters,Granddaughter,Daughter-in-Law and myself had dinner at this restaurant last night.We each had five different meals.Everyone was more than satisfied. The meals were sumptuous,service was perfect, friendly and prompt. We had a very enjoyable time and will certainly be returning soon. Thank you Carlene for the great service and making us feel so comfortable. Great job Nadia and staff.
