This hotel and restaurant is in the wine streets of Styria. It is situated overlooking large wine fields and has a platform jutting out over the wine fields for an even better view. Every time that we have been here and we have been at...least a dozen times the meals have been not only good but excellent. You do have to be prepared to try something a little different if you are in this region and the menu may not be to the taste of all. There are sometimes little glitches in the system wherever you are and last weekend was one. I ordered Backhendl and pommes… chicken and chips, which should and normally would be very good although not exactly Hout Cuisine it is a local delicacy and specialit...
Bei der Ankunft werden sie mit einem fantastischen Blick auf die Weinberge begrüßt. Wir haben unser erstes Glas Wein auf der Terrasse genossen und die Aussicht genossen. Die Besitzer und Mitarbeiter sind sehr gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist fantastisch, alles was man sich wünschen kann. Sogar Speck und Eier werden frisch auf einem ungewöhnlichen offenen Kamin zubereitet. Das Essen und der Wein im Restaurant waren ebenfalls gut und preiswert. Auch die Portionen waren groß. Wir haben hier eine Woche verbracht und verschiedene Spezialitäten probiert. Unser Zimmer war zwar etwas klein, aber geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr kompakt, auch mit viel Schrankplatz. On arriving you are welcomed with a fantastic view overlooking the vineyards. We enjoyed our first glass of wine relaxing on the sky walk and taking in the view. The owners and staff make you very welcome and are very helpful. The breakfast is fantastic,...everything you could wish for. Even bacon and eggs freshly cooked by the chef on an unusual open fire stove. The food and wines in the restaurant were also good and reasonably priced. Also large portions. We stayed here a week so sampled various specialities. Our room was on the small side but tastefully decorated and very compact, also lots of cupboard space. After a great day at South Styrian wine route we stopped at this restaurant for dinner. I guess it specializes in game meat. We had pheasant and deer with chestnuts. Food was very good hearty but not as heavy as typical Austrian countryside food. Desserts...and wine were good as well. I bought a case to take home. over, the service was very very nice. I guess we were served by owner and we also saw his wife. They made as feel comfortable. I saw a terrace, I guess in summer you can eat with a breathtaking view. Am Nachmittag kehrten wir im Wein- und Restaurant "Mahorko" ein. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet, die Weinauswahl sowie die Atmosphäre sind absolut beeindruckend. Neben der Restaurantterrasse verfügen sie über eine wunderschöne offene Lounge-Terrasse über den Weinbergen mit einem atemberaubenden Panoramablick. Neben Mittag- und Abendessen ist es der perfekte Ort für eine Tasse Kaffee und ein Stück des fantastischen hausgemachten Kuchens oder ein Glas Wein und eine entspannte Pause in der Sonne mit einem außergewöhnlichen Ausblick.
In the afternoon we made a stop at the vinery and Restaurant „Mahorko“. The food is excellent, the wines as well and the view is absolutely breathtaking. You have in addition to the restaurant terrace a wonderful open lounge terrace above the vinerys with a...breathtaking panorama view. My husband and I recently stopped by this place for lunch. The location is lovely and the terrace offers a great view across the vineyards. The food was OK but certainly not the best meal that I have had in the Weinstraße region. The waiters...were not very friendly and the food took quite a long time to come to the table. However if you are looking for a spot with a lovely view whilst sampling some regional food and wine then this is certainly a good choice
