As you may know, North Vancouver has a large Iranian-Canadian community, which means there are some fantastic Iranian restaurants to try. Yaas Grill House is one of these places, and it has gained popularity, with two locations just a few blocks apart. We visited the first one we saw, located conveniently off the freeway on Lonsdale. We started our meal with a delicious eggplant dip served with pita bread and house-made pickles. The pita was exceptional, with a beautiful char and perfect texture. The eggplant dip could have used a touch more salt, but it was still very tasty. The pickles had excellent flavors. I found myself in North Vancouver with some time to kill, so I decided to have Persian food for lunch. The first place I tried was closed, so I ended up at Yaas Grill House. I arrived around 1:15pm on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant busy and bustling. You place your order at the counter, receive a number, and then your meal is brought to your table. If you'd like water, you can help yourself to a glass near the utensils and takeout boxes.

I recently tried the grilled chicken and lamb skewers at Yaas for the first time and it has quickly become my new favorite dish! I usually stick to my go-to order of Kobideh, but I'm glad I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the chicken.
