Yeshi Buna - Tisch resevieren

I have only discovered ethiopian foods around Moorooka when a friend once introduced me to the one inside the Moorooka shopping block. A few times we have been parking near Yeshi Buna but not eating there as my friend has booked us at the other restaurant. As we walked past Yeshi Buna, I can tell you right away before I even tried the food, some good food is cooking right there!Anyway, finally last night I had the chance to try it myself. This is our second time here and the restaurant stood up quite well. The place was not flashy but clean and presentable. We ordered Ethiopian combo Platters to share and it was quite a different experience including sharing food on the same platter and using hands.The food was excellent and the traditional pancakes, although a bit sour, were quite nice. The service however was a bit slow. This was obviously a family run restaurants and it appears that the owner's family was busy at work. We come here about once a month: our meat-loving son gets the marinated chicken (doro wot), our vegetarian daughter lives the shiro lentil dish, and we love the mixed plate of veg and meat curries, all served on the sour 'injera' pancake and eaten by hand! It's an Ethiopian family business run with great pride- the husband is the smiling maitre d and yeshi, the wife, is the talented cook.

Food delicious, restaurant no frills, service average. But that is the African way. No cutlery. its eating with the fingers here which is a bit of a novelty. BYO. We have dinner here every few months, and we always leave very satisfied. The food is delicious and great value-for-money. Service can be patchy, but there is always a relaxed, friendly vibe. If you've never had Ethiopian food, I highly recommend you try this place!

First time trying Ethiopian food and I'm so Glad to have stumbled upon this place. It's small, warm, and the staff are very welcoming! Food smells, looks and tastes GREAT! Will be back for more :)
