I had some excellent meals at this restaurant when it was called the Allotment, but now it has changed its name to the Clubhouse. I recently visited for breakfast and was disappointed with the quality of the food. Despite this, I decided to give it a second chance. We were seated upstairs and it seemed like the staff forgot about us for most of the evening. I ordered a chicken burger without bacon, as I do not eat red meat, but I received a beef burger instead. Really poor food and service. We booked in advance 8 people )and had to preorder beforehand. Surprised that only had 1 sea bass available when we arrived of 4 pre-booked). How about messaging in advance?? Especially surprised that there’s only 1 fish dish on the menu and the venue running out of fish night before Good Friday. It’s a red flag when the place is empty at 7pm on a Friday, incredibly rude staff like it was an inconvenience us being there, ordered a bottle of wine and just had it slammed down on the table. Ordered sirloin steak to be told they didn’t have any can we have something else, ordered a different steak which smelt and tasted off, sent the whole thing back. it definitely was off as I was sick an hour later. My friends tried to order desserts and they didn’t have half the menu. We dined outside for lunch at this restaurant. I tried the crispy beef salad, which was flavorful but on the smaller side. The Sauvignon Blanc I ordered was served at room temperature. My son thought his meal was decent. The atmosphere of the place was not particularly inspiring, but it was worth trying out. I do not appreciate being referred to as "guys," and unfortunately, that was a common occurrence during our visit.

I ordered a steak sandwich from this restaurant. Although the presentation of the food was good, the steak itself was tough and full of gristle. The knife provided to me was not strong enough to cut through the steak, I needed something more heavy-duty. This was my first time dining at this restaurant, and it will also be my last. With so many other dining options nearby, it's not worth the risk of returning.
very nice place, waitresses very attentive>FOOD ordered the steak,the steak came on a plate,with nothing else on it no garnish expected tomatoes/some mushrooms,and a pot of gravy wich was meant to be peppered sauce,and a pot of oven chips???my wife had the sea bass AGAIN fish on a plate no garnish and a pot of oven chips???i think the cook should watch blue peter for presentaion ideas
Came in while spending a few days in the area. Nice venue but offering was at best average. Shame as previous reviews were very good. Seems to have changed hands as most reviews are of the previous business. Very slow service as they were understaffed on the night. Food nothing special. Probably would have gone elsewhere with hindsight.
we came to southport for three nights in the early year and saw the allotment in birkdale in the first night, where we checked her menu. we came back to a meal last night and they make some very good food, including some great hotdogs and loaded pommes.

Food overcooked and tepid. No hospitality more hostile indifference. Wrong cutlery. In short overpriced, pretentious. This was 70th birthday family celebration for 11 people. Lot of money for a near wasted evening!
