3.5 stars but rounded up to 4. I had ordered the Chef Deluxe which is the long plate. The other plate was a filet mignon sushi and the white plate is an Aozora special which was kind of like a lite version of what I got. I consider the Chef Deluxe like a pseudo omakase because everything was presented together instead of one at a time (however I was not sitting at the sushi bar.. it appeared to be closed or being used for takeout bag storage) The sushi, sashimi, rolls, etc are exactly what you would expect. The wasabi was fake (as expected it 's horseradish). The fish was fresh enough to me as nothing tasted off. (Ordering uni usually helps me figure out how fresh the seafood is but I decide...
So I stopped by this place to get some lunch. I called in my order of the vegetable udon lunch special with miso soup. It came to about $10.64. When I arrived I found parking on the street not too far. I walked in and was greeted by the lady that took my order. I told her my name and she handed my food to me. I paid by the exit door with credit card and left. When I got in and ate I enjoyed the miso soup and the udon was ok. It had a sweet taste to it which I had to add spice to make it more to my liking. I had an ok experience.
THIS IS HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT IN NJ The staff is super friendly, they don’t rush you out the restaurant, food is 10/10 for quality and taste, and their BYOB policy makes it great for date night or a calm night with the girls. I have never been so compelled to write a review but Aozora deserves 5 stars. I always get their spicy miso soup, a mix of their speciality rolls, and that flourless chocolate cake is to die for. My go to forever <3

Fantastic sushi rolls! Some of the most beautiful special roles we had?? The atmosphere of this restaurant is kind of nice, but the prices were not terrible. The staff was very friendly and attentive. On the right to the left: Galaxy Roll, Fire Dragon, Montclair, Aozora. Definitely recommend.
I thought the food was excellent. Some of the best shrimp tempura I’ve ever had. The place was not incredibly full, but I think it should be. This place is absolutely rockstar! I’m very satisfied with my meal. Highly recommend.
Tasty sushi. We have been a couple times and enjoyed it. Fair prices and BYOB policy makes it economical. Decor a bit more upscale than some of the other spots in Montclair so can work as a sushi date night or takeout.
We went on a Friday night and had a great dinner. Super nice place, really good food. Server was really friendly and fun as well. Highly recommend. We got chicken terryaki and a few sushi plates. It was all awesome.
