We arrived for our high tea booking quite early after some earlier activities were cancelled due to weather. We asked the waitress if it was possible to attend an earlier sitting (not realising there were only a few sittings each day). She advised she would...see if she could get a table ready for us. We were in-house guests and had an excellent seafood buffet at Melbas so decided to try Aria the next night. We ordered Truffle Fries , Nasi Goreng and Lamb Roast. Both our meals were served quite cold. The fries though were very good. The Lamb...Roast was also no better than a pub meal but twice the price. It was also light on in gravy so my wife did ask for more. As far as the Nasi Goreng I did not find it authentic and the chicken satay was slightly pink so needed to be cooked longer. as a bride who lived in melbourne, I came here at the jubileee waving to do something traditional. we had to book and the 12-2 session was full, so we booked 4-6. it was either $90 or $100 with free flowing fizz. or a glass champs. I chose free flowing fizz, but it was far from free flowing. I had a glass and the empty sat on the table. My daughter loved her first [Barbie] High Tea event, these school holidays. It was a definite treat. My high tea adult version had significantly shrunk in size and was a good 2-3 items smaller than regular yet the price remained the same. She reported that the actual cupcake was 'yuck ' but ate all the frosting. Her favourite item was the popcorn ?!? and as much as she loved her special experience I 'm not entirely sure we 'll be back anytime soon as there are many more high tea options nearby that I 'd rather experience. Booked with the Langham Melbourne for high tea after many websites stating how luxurious it was. The high tea itself was far from it. The sandwiches were stale and tasteless. Sweets were too sweet to eat, all we could taste was sugar and the cream...that is provided for two people for the scones was pittiful. The only upside was helpful staff who let us move our afternoon sitting to the morning without issue and the decor. For basically 100 per person it is far from worth it. The easter egg hunt by the hotel for littlies staying there was a cute to note.
we had a high tee in the langham to celebrate my birthday. what a disappointment. I am fructose intolerance, so they remove many of the hearty objects and replace them with cake. I can't eat too much sugar so this was not ideal. some of the fine layer. the cakes looked like they were stored in a refrigerator old or too long, as the cream was separated at the top. service was also bad. I asked the waiter who broke off our high tee what we got and was said: "I just pull off the cake, that's not my department."
Very poor service. We were seated for 20 minutes before any staff member came near our table in a 2 hour seating. When the food arrived I nearly laughed, it so ludicrous for $90 per head. Six miniature bites the same for the sweets....To top it off the free flowing sparkling was $10 a bottle. Not good enough Langham. Haven't felt this ripped off in a very long time. Do yourself a favour go to the Hyatt!
in the elegant and beautiful environment in aria you enjoyed the afternoon. the service was attentive and friendly for our group of six. it was very busy (we sat on Sunday at 11.00 am), so best to book in advance. that was eating. plentiful and, with taking the more tasteless chestnut panna cotta, everything else was delicious. the scones were perfect. we look forward to a visit. Nice place to have a good cappuccino and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and delicious raspberry jam and mango colis. Great ambience for a little boost between your shopping trips in Melbourne.
