Happened upon the place, and a wonderful surprise, they were open at 1100hrs on a Saturday. We were both hungry, so in we went. The place is dated, the amenities are clean. The person who served us, was very pleasant. Though lacking in English. An extensive menu. I chose sizzling Mongolian Lamb, he had sizzling seafood combination. Both with steamed rice. It took a while to come, which told us it was being freshly cooked. So well worth the wait. Both dishes were fantastic. He ordered chilli in the seafood, which was obviously fresh chillies. Read review that said Laksa was superb. I ordered chicken laksa. A bowl of stuff arrived with chili powder clinging to the sides. The soup was a light brown colour (not dissimilar in look and taste to my husband's satay sauce). I struggled through the...bland chicken which was barely there anyway. There were a few snips of broccoli, cabbage and chunks of onion. Try as I might, I could taste no laksa flavours (tamarind, lemongrass, coconut or even a touch of kaffir leaf etc) It was so abysmal I left it halfway through came back to my room and made a cheese sandwich. What a waste of money. Hb had S&S Pork with fried rice. I can't be asked to say more than it too was awful. Oh, he had a coffee!...
This place is a typical small town Asian restaurant. The decor is old and dated, the service is ok. Some of the food was good but others not so good. We had the smorgasbord for $21.50 but it was really busy and we had to wait for the small portions they brought out. I was neither impressed or dissatisfied with this restaurant.
After several days on the road and eating out,mainly pub food. Something inside of us,was calling out for vegetables and non pub food. We weren’t disappointed at all,great Asian food. A must if you like us some times need a change.

I would visit the Asian Pearl every few months and for a 'country town' Chinese restaurant, it has never disappointed! Straightforward and tasty - what more do you need??
The meals are authentic chinese and very nice, had to take a doggy bag home as the meal was huge, and don't be fooled by the interior which is a bit old.
I ate here with friends The all you can eat us excellent Good variety if dishes and hot It was very clean and also very popular as it quickly filled up.
Food was awful and the worst example of Australian Chinese food. Sadly, there wasn't any choice for food in this depressing little town.

Of course I've had better but it was good for what it's worth. St George is a lovely little town and we were happy to support it.
Meals were reasonable size and tasted okay. Unfortunately the were laced with MSG. would not reccomend if you react to MSG
