Food was nice, I must say that. It was 12 of us and we had the tasting menu. There was plenty and every dish was tasty.Chairs were touching how close we were and I have for the first time ever eaten with my elbows touching my ribs. Every time I moved I would touch someone or someone would touch me. I cannot explain, it was bizarre! And I was lucky, those of use wedged between the wall and table had no chance of getting up. If someone would want to go to the toilet, all six would have to get up, go into the corridor, so the person can wheeze out behind the table and then the same when they came back.Waitresses had no room to put down/take away dishes. Especially not from the other side. We ha...

My wife and I went on Friday night on a recommendation and were highly impressed and will be back with friends in the near future. Could not fault the service and atmosphere. The waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly and this has a large bearing on the overall experience. The place was a little noisy but we like a happening place. The food was all excellent starting with the anchovy doughnuts and the special being the cauliflower. The mussel linguine for flavour was right up there with the best we have ever had and we have been to most of Melbourne's top restaurants. The duck was the only dish that we thought needed improvement as a little dry and lacking a little something as a resul...
First up the venue and décor, trendy Brunswick and a little noisy which I guess adds to the ambiance, however, one would doubt that the very cramped seating would pass as comfortable dining. Very friendly staff but not backward in touting for a tip when settling the bill, second negative! I am not against tipping but do not respond to the TOUT. The food ( Pasta ) was no better or no worse than other Lygon Street restaurants and as a main was more like a entrée ( starter ) and not what I would consider to be a genuine Italian serving. Maybe they are following the small plates trend designed to make the restaurant more profitable $$. In any case we thought the pasta was over priced. Our dessert...
We went on a Sunday evening and there were 4 of us. We sat on the ground floor at the front of the shop. Great atmosphere, not too noisy, friendly and informative staff. Food was so yummy!! We shared some antipasto, then enjoyed the slow cooked lamb, beef ragu, Sicilian sausages and a dish of calamari, prawns and grains. Vegetables and salad on the side. Cost around $370 for 4 of us, but in addition to entree and mains we had a bottle of wine, a few beers, dessert and coffee. Highly recommended, we will be back and we will try the tasting menu. Bar Idda had been recommended so with 2 friends we decided to try it on a Thursday evening. Each dish was tasty and well presented. We shared all the dishes we chose so that we were able to try as many as possible. Three small dishes, two mains and two desserts filled us with a variety of wonderful flavours. Service could not be faulted. The room is small but cosy and comfortable on a cold night.
Great place, great food, great staff! Its very small inside and we went with a few oldies that couldn't cope with being so close to the people next to us! We did ask to move to a bigger table and the staff had no problem with it at all, so it all worked out ok.
The place was buzzing on a Thursday night yet service and food was outstanding when nine of us gathered to celebrate Nonna's 90th birthday. All dishes were as if they were prepared in a trattoria in Palermo or Messina. Delicious!!!
So do you want the good news first or the bad news? Ok, the bad news is that there are a couple of weeks each year when Bar Idda stays closed. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
So beautiful! Loved it. Fast, unpretentious & fun. Great energy & on point staff. Good was spot on & house red was amazing!
My flatmate recently moved in so, with no other plans, we decided to grab some dinner at Bar Idda tonight.
