Benares Previously Saffron

Tired of mediocre Indian restaurants closer to home, we asked an Indian friend for her favorite place. Boy, do I wish we 'd asked sooner. My wife and I had some of the best Indian food in some time at Benares. We ordered a selection of appetizers and entrees, knowing we 'd take much of it home, to get a feel for the menu. Everything was freshly prepared and flavorful. In addition to chicken, lamb and seafood choices, there are many vegan and vegetarian items too. The dining room is simply decorated but inviting, the staff pleasant and the wait staff knowledgable. Such a lovely date night experience. To start, we shared the eggplant chaat and chili paneer. The latter is a must. For dinner, we shared the laal maans and shrimp tandoor. Both we excellent, but the lamb dish was truly delicious. Can't wait to go back! Thanks for a great night.

We went for Mother’s Day. Not only was the food amazing, as always, but they made it so special. Little pink drinks with rose petals on the plate and a rose for each mother. So sweet! They make you feel so welcome and appreciated. It’s my favorite restaurant!
