I won't believe those "Best 10" articles anymore.I can't say Berta is not good because we only tried few things.So I wanna review something I tried this time.Crispy fried potatoes with sriracha mayo - unbelievable this one was the best thing we had...Spring onion pancake - the pancake was okay but the white sauce was ridiculous salty.Japanese noodle - should be daily special? that meat balls tasted weird. Only very few noodles in this noodle dish...Chilli caramel pork belly - flavours was good but they're TOO HAIRY to eat.However, staff was very friendly and nice.
Stodgy food, very heavy on eggs. Went for late lunch (1.20pm) after various delays - the first shock was asking for the wine list (at our last visit there was a list of 6 or so wines chalked up on the board) and was told ONE white wine by the glass (Milton Pinot gris - very mediocre). Too late to go anywhere else - the venison ragu was acceptable, the fishcakes dry and boring and the side dish of "crispy potatoes" was anything but, basically wedges which were yellow and soft. Will not be returning, at $78 for 2 dishes and 2 glasses of wine never again
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Berta. They had a tasty, imaginative breakfast menu to choose from. I enjoyed the corn fritters and my husband had the spring pancake with pork belly. The price was higher then most we found in Hobart, but it matched the quality.The staff were very helpful and were full of suggestions when we wanted one of everything on the menu.The only thing that let it down was the coffee, quite average, slightly bitter, I expected better to match the amazing quality of food.
Food was good and flavoursome but unfortunately the worst service EVER. Waited 10 mins for a menu and water, coffees took 30 mins to arrive. Granted it was a Sunday morning, had to ask twice for water. Wrong food was delivered. Waiters complaining about customers hanging around after meals - what ever happened to the customer is always right? No apology of the inconvenience it caused us. Awful service well and truly has turned us off returning.

First decent coffee in Tasmania this visit.Charming little cafe, walked in to see people waiting for a table ... always a good sign. I had the French toasted brioche, with strawberries, pistachios and whipped ricotta..heaven... my daughter had the corn fritters, only complaint was they were a bit greasy due to being deep fried not pan fried but she still found her meal to be very tasty. Would definitely visit again.
As a local, I love the food at Bertas! Always a taste sensation, with a change of menu the food choices are creative and delicious. Brunch on a Sunday however is not to be a rushed affair. Take your time with a coffee or two, the food is worth the wait!
Always busy, but the staff are fantastic. The coffee is spot on, for us, not too weak or strong. The menu is for the more adventurous, like jalapeño cheddar waffles or crumbed Korean hotdogs. You won't go back to an ordinary cafe after visiting Berta
Yuuuum! We loved Berta. We waited for a seat on a busy Sunday morning and so glad we did. Best brekky we could find in Hobart - seriously Yum! Corn fritters 10/10. Thanks Berta.

The menu had me within the first few dishes. I wanted everything. The staff were great. Even got fab jam donuts to take away.
Always our top choice for brunch. The Hash is to die for. I love the chai lattes - best in town. Definitely recommend
