Once again a journey to one of Portside Wharf's restaurants led us to the Betong 888 Thai Restaurant. The decor of the restaurant was not authentic thai, and that extended to the menu. We tried a vast array of their dishes.. unfortunately the Massaman Beef and the Pad Thai were a little bland, yet the sesame roast duck and the Tamarin prawns were extremely good.. The service was excellent (maybe because it was super quiet), but never the less.. will go back again.
Owner is plain rude. We did not book however was completely empty - raining outside.
Owner refused to allow us to sit inside - was arrogant and insisted that the tables were book.
In the end we sat outside, the food was tasteless - when drinks were served, the glasses we received were less than 200ml for a $4 soft drink.
Food was tasteless and bland.. would not recommend!

Great selection of food and really tasty. The crispy pork belly with greens was really full of flavour and generous servings. The duck was crispy and well cooked. Only improvement would be the chef special sauce, it was a bit tomato saucy as opposed to Asian flavoured. Decent meal, will order again.
Your meals are very tasty but the amount of meat for 4 adults in your beef mussaman was very poor, 4 pieces of meat and 2 potatoes and the same with the pork belly with the greens. Your service is great but you need to pick up the amount of meat in your dishes. The duck really recipe was yum
Tonight we has Tom Yum, Quail and noodles.
Betong has a great selection of authentic Thai with a number of western friendly Thai and south East Asian dishes. This is the second time I've eaten here and both times I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality.
Highly recommended!
Not a bad restaurant however there are better options in the valley. Pretty prompt take away service so I can't comment on the restaurant table service. Spicy chicken I had was well worth it. Would be back if I was dining at Portside.

Absolutely disgusting food, worst I have ever had . DO NOT GO THERE!!! THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT MUST CHECK THIS PLACE IMMEDIATELY!!!! Very disappointed
Waitress never smiles and provides an unfriendly atmosphere For Thai the food was about average but restaurant super clean and efficient
