The grilled cheese is just okay—5/10. It’s a bit greasy for my taste, but when dipped in the tomato soup, it becomes much more enjoyable. Speaking of the soup, I’d rate it a 6/10. I really appreciate the creamy texture and the hint of lemongrass and lime leaf, but it seems to be missing a bit of spice. I also highly recommend the breakfast items. The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich is simple but done exceptionally well—9/10! The bacon, egg, and cheese is good too but not quite as satisfying as the sausage option; I’d give it an 8.5/10, mostly because there could be more bacon. As someone with food allergies and sensitivities, I am consistently impressed by the Better Half team! They truly go the extra mile to ensure I can dine there safely, even taking the time to analyze the ingredients in the condiments. The flavors are outstanding, with some creative combinations! They offer some of the best gluten-free sandwiches in Portland! Dietary options include gluten-free bread from New Cascadia, as well as vegan cheese, meat alternatives, and dairy-free options.
Huge sandwich, big enough to share between two people. Fries are well seasoned and the fry sauce is tasty! Chips that come with the sandwich are made in house and really good too. Easily order at the kiosk, but someone is available to help if needed. The folks who work here are helpful and work hard to fulfill all the pickup/to-go orders as well as serve all the people who eat in. Good place for a decent lunch. Bring your laptop if you wanna work bc they have wi-fi too.
Saturday lunch was excellent. My wife and I each ordered a sandwich. We also shared a cup of tomato soup, an order of fries, and a sea salt chocolate chip cookie. Everything tasted great. The portions were generous (we ate our fill and were still able to bring home half of my wife's blackened chicken sandwich, half the fries, and half of the cookie). Service was prompt and friendly. Wow! Not only a great sandwich shop but fantastic vegan options.A little backstory: I grew up vegetarian, later became vegan. I have NEVER had an Italian sandwich.I ordered the Veggie Italian. ?It was DELICIOUS. I saved half for later.I also got the soup which made me smile and a cookie ? ; and ate some of my husband’s fries.This would be one of my go-to places to eat at if I lived in Portland.
I've ordered from here 2 days in a row because I'm obsessed with the gluten free grilled cheese! Today my work ordered for my birthday, so it was a last minute big order that we had to split into 2 orders. We received our delicious food so quickly and everything was perfect! Holy moly. I haven’t been this satisfied with a sandwich since becoming a vegetarian 6 years ago. The Chick’n Salad sandwich flavors are top notch. Well done.Vegetarian options: Just as many veg options as non-veg!

We had the roasted broccolini which was a little heavy on the broccolini, but still tasty! The fries were a yummy addition. Good portion sizes and clean café.
