I was absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received at Budburst tonight. My partner and I walked into a wedding function here by mistake and went to the bar to order a drink before going to dinner. The black haired female bartender (which I later found out was the OWNER, Rachael Niall !!) asked if we were part of the wedding party, we said no. Instead of saying politely that it was a private function and that we couldn't drink there tonight, she just gestured rudely to the bride over in the corner, to which I had to blatantly ask her what she was going on about. Once we realized it was a private function I then turned to my partner and said we should go. The nasty woman must have mishear...

On first entering, the bar appeared to be very small, but then realised what at a glance had seemed like a mirror was an open window through to the rest of the restaurant. The decir is fab and creates a great atmosphere, exposed brick, rustic furnishings, dim lighting. I was here for dinner with friends, but definitely felt like it would be a very date appropriate venue, although worked well with friends as well. This place was an absolute surprise. We were seated down the very back right near the kitchen, away from the hustle and bustle of the bar. The chef's were great to see, the stars who are normally behind the scenes, it was great to watch them put everything together. We ordered a range of different items, scallops, crab, duck, pork, chips and the charcuterie board. All were fresh and absolutely delicious. All of the food was presented beautifully, only draw back that we weren't able to scrape the bowls! The Wee Bar on Oxford St has recently been taken over by a new owner and wow what a change. Apart from the name which is now Budburst Small Bar and due in part to the owners vast experience in wine its focus is primarily a wine Bar but the talented Bar staff are more than capable of putting together a great Manhattan too.The French trained Chef is excellent and the food did not disappoint, Ive eaten there several times and taken friends and colleagues all of whom were very happy. The (translated from French) Ham and Cheese toasted sandwich is to die for!
such a difference! If you thought it was a great place to be before, you should try it now. Refurbished and with a new menu, this is one local you can not pass by. The wine selection is second to nowhere in perth. The chef knows his way around a kitchen and the music plays I. The background, allowing you to enjoy the company you are sharing. Definitely worth the visit.
Now known as Budburst Small Bar this little gem is tucked around the corner from the Paddo. Great little wine list and the parfait is incredible, so good we had to order a second helping. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what's on the list which is always good to see.

Delicious food, knowledgeable and personable staff, extensive and well thought out wine list, warm, friendly atmosphere. What more could you want from a small bar? I am looking forward to frequenting this bar in the future.
