Firstly, i love going to restaurants and eating the food to a nice scenery. But this is not just a restaurant. im not sure if they sell food or not. but its a nice night out with your friends listening to live music and little alcohol to make the night just worth the wait of getting home from work on a friday and having the weekend chill and just partying with your friends. Its a friendly environment and a safe place. Staff are really friendly and worth the time to meet. So defiantly if your in the sandgate region pop on down from like 1400 to 2200.
The owners could not have been more helpful in planning/hosting my son in laws 30th. The venue, with pavement tables, food van, specially brewed beer, and live entertainment was perfect for a lovely Saturday afternoon/evening. Such a great atmosphere. My daughter had very little to do other than enjoying herself. Cannot speak highly enough of the ladies from the bar who coordinated everything. NB would also be a great place for a few afternoon drinks for the hipster crowd, inside has a cosy relaxing ambience.
The first eclectic craft beer bar in Sandgate and still the best. Regular music from various artists, very small venue, get in early to get a seat. Great owners, no food available but plenty of choice in the area very close by. Decor is eclectic, old furniture, upside down lampshades, vintage fabrics etc adds to the atomsphere. Downfall is only one toilet available and can get very hot inside on a warm summers day.
If you're looking for craft beer, great tunes and a friendly vibe in Sandgate you must visit. Cardigan is actually an old laneway that's been transformed into a hip bar that puts some city venues to shame. I've sampled a few great local craft brews that I haven't seen in some of the supposedly 'hipper' city venues. Live music, great coffee martinis, friendly staff! Very popular for open mike night and regional artists playing lots of genres from celtic music to blues and rock. Love it that you can bring your own take away food (theres an awesome Indian restaurant close by) to enjoy the summer evenings in their outdoor sitting areas.
great atmosphere and they do really good live music. it is better to sit outside but would like to have better seats as some of them are so uncomfortable. the beers are good but i have had to white wines there and they were not even cool. should of taken them back. food vans are great. so close to the train station.
Went with my girlfriend to see some live music there. The bar is small inside but the staff are friendly and kind. Due to the small size of the bar you can end up standing listening and watching live music but that adds to atmosphere.All in all it is a lovely bar for a drink and chill out.
