During my visit to the new sweater district, I discovered many places, but as a true sweet lover, one of my favorite spots was the famous bakery, Carlo’s Bakery Shop. It's a charming place, both in its structure and in the delicious cakes, cookies, and other exquisite treats they offer. You might even spot some of the stars from the famous cake series there and experience the best family vibe. The location is easy to find; if you travel by train, just a few blocks away from the terminal, you'll find the street named after the bakery itself (Carlo's Bakery). Picked up a variety of cupcakes after a friend recommended the place. The cupcakes were not good. They were dry and a bit tough and somehow a little oily. The flavor was also pretty underwhelming. We ate them within three hours of picking them up, so it wasn't like they were stored too long or anything like that.The vibe inside the shop was also a little weird, no real seating, just a big queue. Overall this place feels like a tourist trap for people who are fans of the show, which is a shame because it feels like there was once a great local business here.
I used to love the strawberry shortcake here. It used to cost $27 a few years ago, but now it's gone up to $37, which is discouraging. While the price has increased, the quality has noticeably declined. The strawberries on top aren't very sweet, and the cream both on top and in the middle tastes off—in a bad way. When I visited the shop, there were only three cakes left, and they didn't look appealing at all. I would recommend the owner focus on improving the quality rather than continuously raising the prices.
Rest assured, you’re not visiting this Hoboken spot for its pastries. I've enjoyed better cannoli in Little Italy, Manhattan. I came mainly to take a photo outside the iconic building. Getting here from Manhattan was a breeze; we took a quick train ride from the Oculus near the World Trade Center. Washington Street is just a short walk from the Hoboken train station. So being a NYer.. Last Year I ordered from Milk Bar... HORRIBLE FKIN EXPERIENCE... So This Year We decided to try Carlos... I have watched him on TV forever And I wanted to give it a Try... We ordered A Chocolate Cake with The Rainbow Layers And it was SOOO GOOD... It was Moist And Chocolatey... Will Definitely order from here again
The cannolis were great but their Nutella pastries were divine! The portions are big, we couldn't finish everything we wanted to try but we definitely weren't disappointed. The staff was very attentive and willing to recommend options. No where to sit and eat, but it's more of a grab and go place. Overall, Cake Boss impressed us!
Probably the most famous place for cakes in NJ, attracting people from other states. First time there and the place is impressive, with many different cakes and desserts. Staff was not so friendly maybe they are tired after so many people going there. But the cakes were delicious although a bit pricy.
