My children and I have been devoted customers of this Carvel since we moved to the area a few years ago. The staff there, mostly young people, are wonderful; however, I can't say the same about the owner. After reading other recent reviews highlighting her unpleasant attitude, I felt it was important to share my own experience. I've seen her shout at the employees (most of whom are kids) and reprimand them in front of customers on multiple occasions. There are so many other fantastic ice cream places nearby that I might choose to visit instead.
Terrible, sadly I was visiting with my family wanting to get some ice cream for my 4 kids my wife and I and had to leave. I came in to hear an father discussing with the manager about firing his daughter. For giving a 2 weeks notice about a vacation they were taking. I know where I'm from 2 weeks is sufficient amount of time. I didn't want my kids to see that it was ok for a company to do this. The kids are trying to make money for themselves for the summer why give them a hard time and I heard her father say she was just 15 years old.
I visited on Friday night for my favorite chocolate chip cookie dough with marshmallow topping. Although the line was long, the staff were efficient and got my girlfriend and me served in no time. They appeared cheerful and were incredibly friendly. They even allowed us to sample two flavors and were very patient with our indecision. I was excited to enjoy the Keksteig, but I still asked for several samples, which they happily provided. We will definitely be back!
Thank you for the amazing customer service! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I went in to buy a cake and asked if they could write a name on it, and they happily agreed. You've gained a loyal customer! I've been a dedicated patron of Baskin-Robbins for years, but today they lost my loyalty due to their poor customer service and refusal to personalize a cake. Thanks again, Carvel, for a great experience!

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would !!! The owner mentally and verbally abused my 15 year old little sister this was her first job!! Parents if you would not want your teenage child treated in this manner then please DO NOT GO HERE. There is another carvel close by on rt 34 in Matawan which I would gladly give my business to.
I ordered a coffee ice cream shake to brighten my drive to the shore. While the shake was delicious, I thought the price was on the high side. Additionally, the service was lackluster. The staff member who served me hardly made eye contact; she seemed more focused on complaining to her co-worker. I didn't feel appreciated as a customer.
The owner is a bully who treats all her employees in such a manner that no human being should be treated let alone 15 year old kids. She made my daughter’s first experience a horrific one and has scared her. Please do not let your child ever work here as it’s a hostile work environment!!!!
Just had ice cream there this weekend and its just like a trip back in time! Not from the area so we had to stop when we saw one of the few carvels left in jersey. The owner was so nice and helpful and even let me and my boyfriend sample our favorites ! Cant wait to visit again ????!!
