The host was friendly and the food came out fast, there was one other couple eating in and quite a few takeaway orders being picked up. The best part was that they sold cans of soft drinks for $2-50 each. Last night I ventured to Chinese Garden Restaurant for take away was my first visit and having now tasted there food will definitely return. Menu contained all of the Chinese favorites and they even do specials that are also available for takeaway dinner as well...as lunch. Our selection was tasty with lots of meat and vegetables servings were a great size service was pleasant, fast and a good price... Have paid far more at other restaurants with the food not as good. We arrived early but there was a steady stream of people entering for dine in... So word must be out this is a good place to eat. I think we may try the dine in experience next time..
best curried prawns ever! never had a disappointing eating from this restaurant I always buy takeaway, but if I go to dinner in the future, I will be here. it was a lot of fantasies expensive place to look with disappointing eating. very friendly...we can't let them be fooled by the look of the place, the best eat does not need a beautiful environment. these are the best Chinese I found in the Hobart region in the 20 years I lived here.

We stopped past this place as the reviews were decent. We ordered Lemon Chicken and a Large Fried Rice. Okay, the Lemon Sauce was great. Really tangy and lemony. Chicken was cooked well, nice and golden. However, the rice was a slight let down. It was full prawns and beef etc which was great, but it had NO seasoning and was quite bland. I covered it in lemon sauce and it was okay. Might come back and try something else next time :)
This restaurant has been a family favorite for at least 20 years. Food has always been very good with generous servings. Have got to know the owners and their children over this time. Family run restaurant and very friendly.Don't be put off by the outside appearance as the quality of the food makes up for this shortfall.BYO with no corkage. Usually no reservations required.Try the combination omelette which is the best anywhere.
I frequently have take away from here with my family. We love the spring rolls very traditional and home made. Highly recommend the combination char siew. The restaurant looks daggy from the outside hence why we enjoy take away meals, but it's very tasty...and good quality Chinese and reasonably priced!
Don't let the exterior deter you with this place. The food is good and service is friendly. Have regular take away. Have never dined in. Food is not over flavoured and sweetened like some Chinese food I have had. It is tasty and good quality....I love it.

Only 2 other people in restaurant. Waited 3/4 hr for our meals. Meals no taste and probably heated not cooked at the time
