It was a while ago my husband and I decided to eat here for lunch. My husband is allergic to some fish, especially flake and so we have to be careful when ordering fish. He ordered trevalla and I had flounder. After lunch, we headed off to a friends house warming in Granton. During the afternoon, my husband was violently sick and we had to leave for home. On the way, he was sick twice more and on arriving at home, was sick again. I then realised he must have been served flake instead of trevalla but was charged the higher price. I bought lunch here recently and it was well worth it. The fish (flathead) was very well cooked and the batter was light and crispy. The chips were golden and crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside (as chips should be). Unfortunately, I had a return visit and was bitterly disappointed. I don't know if they had a different chef, but the fish was soggy and oily, as were the chips. The meal was inedible and I bought sandwiches from a local milk bar.The meals here seem to be hit and miss
We called in a month or so ago. Having lived in HObart for a long time it was the first time there. What a surprise. Well cooked chips! Well cooked fish!. Most places dont cook their products well enough and this place got it right. It's not difficult to do yet so many places get it wrong.This place has been around for a long time and i am sure many owenrs too, however the current owners have got it right!
Tried to use this place as a single stop with the co-located premises. Big mistake! Everything was expensive, especially the chips and poor quality. Even a squeeze of lemon juice was charged as an extra. Tartare and any other sauce was only available in Heinz squeeze packs at some stupid price. Salads looked terrible. They need to change their oil out too. You can smell it as soon as you walk in.

I took my grandson here last year for a quick eat-in meal. The food was terrible, overcooked and there are no options for gluten-free choices only grilled fish which was grilled separately in frypan but not sure how clean it was. A place I would never visit again.
We had the Seafood basket incredible value for money could not eat it all. Great friendly service, clean tables, efficient time frame from when ordered to cooked, very popular with families, good variety on menu eat in or takeaway.
Friendly helpful staff. Food delicious, not greasy. Tartare sauce, yum. Only criticisum, should have 2 pieces of lemon for 2 pieces of fish. Tempura mushrooms are excellent. Beer batter so good. Easy to park and access building.

I am sorry but I cannot get excited about this restaurant.. the surroundings are poor,, the food [fish] was greasy and overbattered and for the type of place it wasn't cheap ..
The takeaway food presentation was better than the ordinary fish & chips shop. Everything was clean & tidy
