an absolutely incredible place with beautiful decoration, amazing eating and some of the most hospitable employees. this was our second time that we visited the star inn a few years ago, and we knew that the quality of the service they offer is top-tier. this visit was not disappointed, with immediate order, extremely friendly staff and much advice to choose from if necessary. the drinks were as amazing as ever. we tried a series or cocktails and wein, all of which were extremely tasteful and a great addition to our evening. try out all 3 courses, we were most impressed by the appetizers and puddings the outstanding dishes are the pressed thrikleby escape, which was very rich and fleshy, and...
the former waterworks engine house at the heck of the loanal hill house is a grade II building and was subjected to massive restoration by its poor condition in 2013 to 14. the resulting restaurant adopts an imposing flow position and is beautifully furnished, both inside and outside. ate as a group of six on the river terrace and eating was excellent. service was very friendly and attentive, but sometimes a little slow. this was a Monday evening and so they were perhaps a little more busy than expected. Nevertheless, the quality of eating and the helpfulness of the staff guarantees a 5-star evaluation.
what a great way to end our first day in york. as we had already eaten a full meal during the day, we were just looking for some light to eat and a refreshing glass or two rose’ it is not the cheapest, but definitely worth the visit and we will be back soon. an excellent table outside on the deck with views of the river, served by amazing friendly staff, thank you.
The food is of excellent quality and beautifully presented, with a delightful drink selection to accompany the food. This makes The Star undoubtedly the best restaurant in York! The staff should also be commended for their politeness and efficiency. A special thank you to Katie and Georgia for their attentiveness and admirable work ethic.
We had a lovely meal here. Service was great, all the staff we very helpful friendly. Dog friendly in the bar area. Actual restaurant is lovely a great location. The food was lovely we liked how wines were paired with the food. Would highly recommend. Worth booking as it was full both times we visited.
First and foremost, they serve a great cup of coffee and also have some really cool cold drinks Beyond that, they are incredibly engaging folks. We got some excellent recommendations from them which resulted in a little half trip via train to Knaresborough and Harrogate which we totally enjoyed
What a delightful place! The coffee is excellent, and Gary, the owner, is a fantastic guy. He even treated me to a few free coffees as a welcome back to work gift!
