Prompt service. Coffee had to be drunk quickly as arrived lukewarm and was too weak to be enjoyable. Barra chips and salad was tasty but too big a serving. None of us could finish our plate, even the male of our group with a robust appetite. I dislike waste and would prefer a smaller serving at a smaller price. Staff turned heaters on as soon as the sun went down which was welcome.
Order your meal and eat at the outside tables at Doug's or order take-away and walk across the road and have your meal in the shelters on the beachfront. Meals are huge so don't over order. Doug's specialises in seafood. Lines can get long to order - which is always a good sign. Important note - Cash Only!
Food is simple but fresh and good and price is reasonable.I had the scallops and the friand and my husband had the moreton Bay bugs and lemon meringue pie for dessert which was very nice and not overly sweet unlike most cakes and desserts in Australia - highly recommend this place
Good value, good quality fish and chips on the esplanade at Sandgate. Cash only... Portions are generous, salads are excellent. I'd been told many times to try this cafe and now I've been I appreciate all the positives I'd heard. The food was very good and the serves were generous. The setting is very convenient to the boardwalk, shelter sheds and water.Staff were very efficient and friendly.
Nothing better to pop down to Dougs and get your chips and scallops and sitting by the water with family and friend. Dougs takes you back to the way traditional Fish and Chips should be cooked. It is cash only - but that doesn't deter from the fans.
We normally buy from this place for a fish and chips and order seafood basket. Tasty and good value for money. Definitely recommend this place!
