Unfortunately, we did not get our reservation at The Duck on the Pond. By pure coincidence, we discovered just 48 hours before our visit that the restaurant was closed until further notice. This information only came to light after I had tried calling numerous times to change the time of our reservation and eventually sent an email on the off chance that someone would respond. It would have been much appreciated if we had received more notice. Since we do not live locally and were visiting the area for the weekend, we were fortunate to learn about the closure in advance and brought our own food with us. So we booked a table via Open Table, received an email confirmation, set off on our half an hour drive, arrived at the restaurant to find it shut, only to receive a text message 15 minutes later to say the same. Not a great start to our Saturday night as then had to drive to Leamington to be turned away from 2 further restaurants who were fully booked to finally sit down for dinner at 8:30. Next time we will call them directly. Ordinarily enjoy this restaurant so very disappointed to reflect this in the scores.
After a missed item delivery this business went above and beyond to rectify, not only was item (genuinely not expected to be replaced) it was re delivered and more. I always think a business is judged on how it handles its creases and this business was 100% spot on for not only sorting it but going above and beyond. I would rate this restaurant zero stars because it was closed upon my arrival, with no indication of when or if it would open. It was a complete waste of a 70-mile round trip. There was no communication from either OpenTable or The Duck on the Pond to inform me that the restaurant would be closed.
