Typically, I browse the menu board quickly and contemplate ordering something different or new, but old habits are hard to break, especially when you know what you love. Today, I made a compromise; I ordered my usual along with something new. I was bringing lunch to a couple of friends who couldn't join me, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity!
As expected, the lunch crowd was out in full force, with a line extending out the door. Here’s what I ordered: Torta #6, Queso Puerco ($8.49), Burrito del Al Pastor ($8.89), Agua de Fruta (32 oz, Platano/Banana, $4.89), and Burrito de Asada ($9.98). The total came to $35, plus tip.

I have been craving an agua fresca for a few days now which is what prompted me to visit this establishment. It's not too far, it's a busy shopping center it's a small place with a panadería attached. You order, pick up, and get on your way. I got chicken taquitos that come with rice and beans, with cotija cheese sprinkled on top. They are fat taquitos with a generous portion of rice and beans! They were delicious and very filling! I ate 2 taquitos some beans left the rest for my husband bc I'm stuffed! The agua de melón was exactly what my heart desired. We found ourselves at El Campeón after stopping at the Tesla super charger. My husband had the chicken burrito and I ordered tacos de lengua and barbacoa. All 3 were delicious and authentic! The salsas were flavorful and spicy! We bought pan dulce (conchas, orejas, and puercitos) All just like papa used to bake them. Finaliy, we picked up 3 kinds of tamales for later. El Campeón is legit!!! Definitely going to plan a visit the next time we head south.
This restaurant never lets us down. The sopes, goat tacos, sweet bread, and fresh fruit drinks here are outstanding—they rival the ones my mom used to make from scratch when I was a child. We always make it a point to stop for lunch whenever we're in the area, and we highly recommend you do the same!

I had to wait 20 minutes just to place my order, and then another 10 minutes to actually receive it. The sope was overcooked, and the tripas were also burnt. I wouldn't recommend spending your time here.
Food is delicious tender meat, big tacos great price. We came across just by walking around. Great experience for being the first time at El Campeon San Juan Capistrano
Fantastic food! Everything is delicious and served quickly! The tacos and burritos are excellent. The smoothies are amazing!
Pretty hood Mexican fast food. If you want to enjoy a popular hispanic place.. come here. Cheap, quick and tasty.
