Our experience here tonight was very dissatisfying. It was somewhat busy which is to be expected on a Saturday night but this felt like someone dropped the ball. We were seated and got our drinks. We put in our food orders and 1 and 1/2 hour went by with nothing. Finally our server stopped by and asked if we got our food. We said no and he came back and got our orders AGAIN. He said he must’ve lost the order-it had never been put in. This is why we were seeing people who had come in after us get their food, ate, and were already leaving. Was in Carbondale for work for a few days and my hosts brought me here for lunch one day. I found El Paisano to be as good, or better, than several of the authentic Mexican restaurants in my hometown.The chips were perfect and the salsa had a perfect blend of flavor and spiciness; not too much and not too little. They did bring other sauces to add if one desired more heat though.I ordered three chorizo street tacos which were incredible, with more than enough meat and other toppings to be filling but not overly so. 10/10 I 'd eat here again to try something else off the menu.
I absolutely loved it! This was my first visit, and everything was fantastic! For the price, the portions are generous and packed with flavor. I highly recommend it—10/10! As for kid-friendliness, it offers a great atmosphere and lively energy. It's perfect for families, plus there's a fantastic photo wall at the entrance with a vine backdrop and angel wings that's just amazing.

We recently relocated to the area and have tried several Mexican restaurants in town. This one is by far the best we've experienced so far. We highly recommend it!
