We were looking for a Mexican Restaurant in Highland Park to eat dinner and we found this place that's still open late. We ordered Chicken Fajitas and Bistec Encebollado. The chicken fajita meat is soft, moist and taste great with sautéed sweet peppers and onions, it's delicious. The beef Bistec was thinly sliced but dry and a bit hard. Well lighted and nice decorated Mexican Restaurant. Service staff a one man team. He's the Cashier, Bus Boy and Server. He's friendly and attentive. But make sure that you ask for the latest price since their menu is not updated. Limited parking space and street parking is not metered parking.
I love this place. The cook takes care of the food he prepares, and the waiting staff is very attentive and wonderful. My favorite is the Enchiladas. I remember as a young person, the closer one came to the Mexican border, was directly proportional to the quality of Mexican food. This doesn't apply here as we are so far away from the border... but the food is delicious! In any case, go for the enchiladas and a delicious pineapple drink. Just 5 stars.
Went last week and will go again. The Carne Asada was so savory and pleasant. The restaurant is so quiet and peaceful. The waitress looked after her own business and was really sweet. The bathroom was surprisingly clean. Thank you for the food and service?
Hands down El Sol serves the best guacamole and chips in Highland Park! Always fresh, spiced perfectly,smooth and good. My steak quesadilla was so good, it melted in my mouth and cooked to my specifications.

The food here is always good. Enchiladas are always good and tasty. not spicy as for me. Rice and beans are always cooked very well. Also good place to dine in too. Good music and quiet.

The Green Chilaquiles are the best Ive ever had!!! They are made from scratch and super authentic! Its a must try!!!!
