Rock 'n ' roll coffee!!. It 's Far Out, all right, far out from where you 'd expect to find a cool caffeine dealer in the warehouse slums of East Van. But this place, which opened in early 2013, has a hard rockin ' vibe everything from the music they play to the tattooed neighbourhood crowd that drinks there and the Danzig band T shirt on the skinny Viking looking dude who pulls the espresso. It 's not a hipster joint call it 'thrashster. '<br/ <br/ The cappucino I got there was decent not as burnt tasting as many Vancouver espresso drinks, although not as smooth as an Australian flat white. I 've driven pass this corner cafe numerous of times and have had it on my bookmark for sometime now. Today was the day I was going to check it out. As I looked through my yelp bookmarks, it said yelpers reported this place closed sad face. I hate when that happens. So I deleted it from my bookmarks. I still need to head over to that area, to my surprise as I drove pass it, it say OPEN!!!! Yay!! I parked on the street and checked it out. Cute cafe!! Handful of baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks. I enjoyed my coffee. Also has vintage clothing for sale and pinball machines. It was fairly quiet when I came by. I also has an almond croissant which was also delightful. This Saturday morning we find ourselves driving to Dundas Street, with Mike fishing around for coins in the little drawer in his car. That’s because on Stop 69 of our weekly Search for Vancouver's Best Coffee, we’re at a funky café called Far Out Coffee Post, which has pinball machines.As you know, Mike’s got a long history with East Van. Back in the day, this East Village prodigy killed time on weekends hanging out at his second home, Hastings Produce. This small neighbourhood grocery’s biggest feature? Two arcade machines.My guy wasn’t one of those kids that got an allowance. But he was resourceful at making a quarter go far. Which is perfect, because that was the price of one arcade game...
What a cute place and even cuter owners! We were immediately welcomed as we walked through the door. Ordered some coffee and breakfast and decided to eat in as we were the only ones there. The coffee was very nice and not too burnt/acidic as a lot of places are, and the food was delicious and their ingredients tasted very fresh. One thing I loved about this place was how neighborly it felt as people started coming in for their coffees but were also catching up with the owner. So lovely. Will definitely be back.
Awesome coffee but the pinball machines rule they have the one i used to play all the time adams family which is easier to play than twilight zone which also rules wish i owned both but my hands cramp up after a few plays
We almost don’t want too many people to know about this place and just keep it a secret, but judging how much traffic they had the last morning we were there, we’re pretty sure the secret is already out.
This is a great new little spot. The menu is still limited, but they serve good stuff and is a great local cafe. Friendly, honest folks and solid cups of coffee.
Excellent coffee and food! However hours of operation are limited otherwise highly recommend the establishment. John
