Update to review: Since my first review, I have returned a few times to the Freedom Square Diner to try more menu items. I brought my hubby. He really enjoyed the food and service as well. His adult daughter recently visited us from FL. He chose to treat her to the diner. She said she REALLY enjoyed her french toast w/strawberries and whipped cream, cheesy eggs, bacon sausage. It was her first visit to Pittsburgh. So glad she was impressed. First time visit to Freedom Square Diner for my sister, niece and myself. The food here is good but what made everything great was our server. I think her name was Akira and we were there with a large group of people, and lots of kids, and she made the experience fantastic. She was on top of everyone’s order and checked in with us several times to make sure everything was okay. She said she’d been there for 11 years and hopefully is there for many more to come because she truly made our time there fantastic!
They’re now adding 3% to check for Credit Cards, that’s just bogus! It’s already a fairly expensive breakfast, I’ll be driving across the bridge to Bob Evans going forward not that they’ll give a crap I’m three minutes from this place!
A hidden gem cafe. The variety of breakfast and lunch items are good for any palate. Vegan dishes as well. My grits came out cold and no real butter so took a star away. Waffles/pancakes, eggs and bacon, turkey sausage was cooked well.

Country fried steak was below average. Fried potatoes were great. Pancakes had very little flavor. Club sandwich was great. Pretty much what we expected for a diner, but prices were higher than average.
Our waitress Jamie was very nice ! I had the taco salad which was sooo good ! We were seated and waited on quickly even though they were very busy . Highly recommended this place !
A great little Diner! I stopped for breakfast twice and would go back again!!
What can I say I enjoyed my experience it was clean fast and delicious
