This is an excellent breakfast spot! I had a fantastic meal here; the food was hot and fresh. I ordered the classic breakfast, which included eggs, ham, and a generous portion of French toast. The French toast was massive, and my eggs were cooked to perfection—I ordered them over medium. The service was friendly, and our food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy. The coffee was also impressive—strong and flavorful. Everyone in my group enjoyed their breakfast, and I would definitely recommend this place. The prices were somewhat high, ranging from $15 to $20 for most meals.
We waited an exceedingly long time, while other diners who arrived after us received their food before we did. Additionally, our orders were repeatedly incorrect; the hash browns were bland and the eggs were inedible. As we entered to wait for our table, we encountered some rather rude customers. When it came time to settle the bill, we were presented with an incorrect charge that was double what we owed. Honestly, it felt somewhat racially motivated. Overall, the atmosphere was not pleasant, and when we went to pay, the man who handled our payment seemed unhelpful.
My experience at George's was terrible. Half of my group were people of color, and we felt that our service was noticeably worse because of this. We had to wait at least 20 minutes longer than the white patrons around us, and when our food finally arrived, it was inedible and disgusting. At the end of our meal, we received the wrong bill, and when we received the correct one and tried to pay, the restaurant owner attempted to swindle us out of cash! It's unacceptable.
The restaurant offers classic diner-style food with robust coffee and generous portion sizes. While the service was quite slow, which turned out to be a blessing since we were catching up with new friends and had lots to discuss, it could be frustrating if you were in a rush. I was also disappointed to find a 4.5% surcharge for non-cash payments added to our $119 bill. Overall, it was a dine-in breakfast experience.

My family and I just moved to Oak Park and this is one of our favorite places. The staff was super kind and accommodating when we brought our little one-year-old out to breakfast, the pancakes, breakfast burritos, and omelets were amazing, and it has that comfy diner ambiance.
