Golden Island Restaurant

The Golden Island Chinese Restaurant has been operating on Salt Spring Island for over 35 years. On any given day you will find Sam, Ted, Winnie and Norman hard at work in the Restaurant. The food is excellent and we have been going there to eat, or getting take out, probably once a week for the entire time they have been in business. Our favourite dishes are the Beef Chow Fun, BBQ Pork Chow Mein, Chicken Chop Suey and the Honey Garlic Lean Pork. We think the prices are reasonable and find the establishment very clean. We would highly recommend giving it a try. One complaint .... they are closed on Mondays!

As a CBC (Canadian born Chinese), I was impressed with the quality of food served at Golden Island Restaurant. I have a tradition of trying out Chinese restaurants during my travels so I have eaten at a lot of places worldwide. The beef chow fun and Jip Way (Hong Kong style crispy noodle) chow mein were well presented and tasty. I also enjoyed talking with one of the owners named Sam and found out he is an ex-Victorian and moved to Salt Spring Island some forty years ago. Will definitely dine in again on my family's next trip back....

Food was very good, Service was good. A fellow by the name of Norm was talking with the customers and was very personable and knew the customers by name. The young lady serving us was also very good. We ordered to much and when the owner noticed we had it packed up was very concerned we didn't like the meal. This was not the case as we simply over ordered. The portions where large and came to the table piping hot.If your looking for a good home cooked meal, with portions to satisfy try it out.

The owner, Sam and his crew provide friendly, efficient service and enjoy bantering with their customers, mostly locals. A Chinese restaurant with the typical variety of entrees - noodle dishes, seafood, pork, beef, chicken and vegetables. The vegetables are always fresh, crunchy, cooked just right and sauced to perfection but the meat dishes are a little sparse on protein and usually contain more vegetables and noodles than they do meat. This isn't haute cuisine, but it's very decent and good value in a family owned and staffed restaurant. Joe's ginger beef, ribs and soups and Singapore noodles are all good. Try, if you can, to get the Szechuan dishes hot, but Sam seems to be equivocal about serving hot dishes to the backwoods denizens of Canada. Order take-out well in advance on weekends and busy nights

Typical chinese menu.....the chow mein didnt hit the mark due to the noodles but other dishes were good...large portions and reasonably prices Very friendly staff including owner. Lots of parking Licenced Best chinese on the island

First time at this Chinese food establishment on a Saturday evening. Food was very tasty, especially the Wor Wonton soup plus chicken chow mein. The staff were very friendly, lot's of locals come for a family dining experience!

Never knew how good I had it with Golden Islands till I moved off SSI and tried to find good chinese food elsewhere. Always get some when I'm visiting the island. No substitute for it. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
