We dropped in on a lovely sunny morning following a visit to the nearby park with our grandchildren. The young man behind the counter claimed he could not understand my (very English, clearly spoken) husband when he placed our order and did not know the meaning of Americano, nor flat white, nor the phrase any type of long coffee . Eventually my husband suggested (perfectly politely) that if the server would tell him what types of coffee were available, he could choose at which point he was told that he was being rude and that the server would not tolerate being spoken to in such a manner . I queued with two people in front who just had their order taken, then three young men came in behind me. Staff member went straight past me and took their orders. I think I looked quite perplexed! I asked him if the queue started at the door.... He shrugged his shoulders, waved both hands up saying how busy he was (busy? he hasn 't experienced busy) and said I need to shout if I want service. This is the first time I've been in. I went to buy some sauerkraut and ended up with mustard, Maggi Würze and red cabbage with apple too. It's a small place with limited stock I only looked at the cans and jars and didn't really browse the cold meats and breads, Previous reviewers have said customer service was bad that was not my experience at all. One of the two teen/20s staff asked why I'd bought Würze one tedious anecdote about my life 50 years ago led to a conversation about what we both thought about Denmark. He didn't have to chat to me, but it was nice that he showed a friendly interest. So I'd say it's a good place.
They used to have nice German produce and pretzels etc, however they are not completely normal and often rude. It is late April 2022, zero covid restrictions in the UK and most other countries. Yet they still demand masks and apparently limiting numbers of people in the shop... I was rudely told to follow that... so I promptly left, no matter how good they mighty be I will not let them terrorise me nor will I entertain their irrational fears, they have lost my custom.

Chose my morning rolls, £3.40. you cannot use a card under £5 you will have to buy more or leave . I did politely remind the rude and charmless Manager that it 's 2021 to be told it costs them too much in card charges. It 's no loss to me as I 'll continue going to the Swiss Bakery where i get the best rolls and warm service with a smile (but annoyingly doesn 't open until 8am on Saturday). Good luck with that business model.
I visited the restaurant Hansel and Pretzel for the first time and was extremely impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, with a variety of options to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the pretzel appetizer and the schnitzel entree. Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at Hansel and Pretzel and will definitely be returning in the future.
I paid £4.60 for a cheese roll to go! With a bag of crisps and a small cake, my total came out to over £10. It was the most expensive on-the-go lunch I've ever had. I was shocked. The staff serving me didn't seem to care at all. I won't be coming back.
I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. The customer service is pleasant and friendly, they offer a wide variety of German dishes, and the coffee is also quite good. There was a male and a blonde woman working during my visit.

As my sister and me are from Austria we liked that German shop, brings back memories. We had a Fleischkäsesemmel which we call a Leberkäsesemmel, I haven't seen it anywhere else before. They have lovely German things to buy from.
