This has always been our go to for Chinese American food. It has always been fast, flavorful, and tasty. However yesterday we experienced a really poor quality product. The food tased as if it had been reheated in the microwave. The chicken was the consistency of beef jerky, and the sauce for the General Tso’s chicken had little to no flavor other than slightly sweet. I really hope this was just a bad day in the kitchen, and is not going to become the norm.
My usual place was closed today so I decided to give this place a try since it had decent reviews and down the street from my house. Chicken lo mien lacked chicken and was very tasteless. The sweet and sour chicken was very bland with watered down sweet and sour sauce. Two of the easiest things to make and not screw up at were bad. Only upside was the egg roll. Fried rice was sad. Also it’s carry out only, and the place is full of garbage and boxes.
We got egg drop soup, Almond Chicken and General. The egg drop and Almond were bland. I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Personally it was the worst egg drop soup I've ever had. The almond chicken was crisp but the sauce was tasteless. My son had the General and egg drop soup. He was disappointed in his General too. First time going here we won't be returning.
Only carryout ever since the pandemic, but the food is as good as always. The egg rolls have bean sprouts which is great, unlike some places that use cabbage. The fried shrimp is excellent, as is the vegetarian egg foo young. My son also recommends the chicken lo mein. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
When we moved to Southgate nearly 8 years ago we tried a bunch of different Chinese food restaurants and always came back to Hong Kong Inn. Always reliable, delicious, with huge helpings! A combo meal feeds you for days ?
I had the worst General Tao's chicken I've ever experienced here. I really hope the next guest doesn't make the same mistake I did. The service was fine, though.
GREAT FOOD! Best egg rolls I've had in a long time! Enough food for 2-3 people. I went here for the first time. A friend recommended them to me.
