We dropped in for lunch and found the restaurant quite busy but was seated. The waitress seemed a bit miffed that we wanted a different spot to yhe one she chose for us which was right next to the main body of other diners. She left us alone to peruse the menu but never returned with the complimentary water or to take our order. We noticed other customers that came in after us was seated, served with water and their orders taken promptly. I had to finally stand up and wave my arms around to catch the attention of the other waitress.We ordered the Avocardo Salad, steamed Gyoza and the Tuna paradise with a pot of green tea all of which was fresh and delicious. We've been there about 2-3 times. Loved the sushi when we went the first time. Bento was alright. We went to Japan the next year and when I returned, I wanted to give it a shot again. Realised the food was definitely not authentic Japanese but it's still nice sushi. I was craving ramen after many good ramen in Osaka so my wife and I wanted to give it a try. Worst choice ever. Avoid the ramen at all costs! The prices are fairly steep too. Better for a bigger group to go and share the sushi dishes together.
Kokoro is my regular Japanese restaurant whether it is for lunch or dinner. The foods are amazing and delicious. Precisely placed on the plates to intrigue your taste buds. No negative feedback at all. You need to book in advance for dinner especially Friday and Saturday nights. Otherwise no chance for walk ins. One of my favourite local restaurant and highly recommended to others.
Came here recently on reading trip advisor reviews and this place was great for our family dinner and the kids loved the food as did the adults.Huge bento boxes and very tasty and sushi was loved by all.Attentive staff and great service and will recommend to anyone visiting Canberra.

My Family and myself also go here frequently, sharing dishes for a leisurely dinner or for a one dish meal, a welcome change from Chinese food, lots of unusual dishes to try as well as the more tradition Japanese fare, service is efficient, prompt, blunt but what you expect.
We walk here for dinners & lunches often & tried most of the sushi, bento boxes (lunch specials & full meals) & the entrees. Great quality, good atmosphere & prices are good. Been to Japan 5 times & this cafe reminds us of why we love the place.
This restaurant is standard Japanese at fancy prices. We paid over $100 for a family of 4 with no drinks. The food is average (we ordered mainly sushi) so we were not expecting the heavy bill at the end.
Relaxed dining experience in the Gungahlin precinct. Great to bring family with kids due to the space and attentive staff. Food tastes yummy in particular the bento set (deep fried pork or chicken).
