Carlos was absolutely rude and should not be a manager. He served me on a dirt napkin the first drink. I ordered a Mango Margarita. I noticed that Carlos did not even pour 2 oz of tequila in the drink. He free poured for 2 secs. I tasted it and itwas watered down. I then asked him what he would reccommend and he was very short and nasty with me. Saying I dont know I likethem all just pick already. I asked for him to make another one this one top shelf since it tasted watered down. Carlos thenpours Luna Azul Tequila which is not Top Shelf! Great little Mexican restaurant hidden in the shopping center. The chips and salsa served had good flavor. The salsa has an almost chipotle or smoked flavor and decent spice. I highly recommend the Strawberry Limeade, fresh squeezed and full of flavor. Food arrived hot and full of flavor. I was not a big fan of their pastor it seemed a bit dry. The rice on appearance made me concerned I'm not big on corn in my rice but it was delicious. The tamale was very good. The service was a bit slow and originally messed up the order but they made it right. I would come back and try more of their items. Their burritos appeared very large.
I rate all Mexican restaurants that I go to, not all are authentic, BUT.. La Penca Azul is truly authentic. Perfectly cooked rice, beans cooked correctly and tastes great, awesome green sauce, chips with red sauce dip ..mmmmMmmmm And to top it off..great customer service.
One of our very favorite places to eat as a family in Alameda. All of the same, fantastic menu options as the location on Park Street, but much more of a chill vibe and much easier parking. Nice outside dining next to the water, and a really pleasantstaff as well.

One word for La Penca Azul – absolutely amazing! The prosciutto starter is freshly sliced right before your eyes with their meat cutter, adding a special touch to your experience. The steak is equally impressive, making this restaurant’s menu a true delight.
The chicken Mole was perfect seasoning! The other dish was excellent taco enchilada, Chili relleno. It's a nice place to eat you can also sit outside where the ocean front is. Plenty of parking and alcohol drinks serve there
Came for Happy Hour on a Thursday. Great HH menu and love their house margaritas that come in some yummy flavors like peach and mango. We sat outside on their patio that had a charming view of the lagoon
Excellent! Perfect! I wish I could give La Penca Azul a six-star rating, but unfortunately, I can't. The menu was outstanding, offering a delightful variety of flavors that exceeded all expectations.

My mother and I ate here twice in one week while I was visiting from the East Coast. Their food is delicious and authentically cooked with the flavors one desires in Mexican cuisine.
Awesome food!!! You have to try the shrimp that chicho the cook Prepared for us. The best shrimp I've ever tasted in my life. Can't weigh to go visit again.
