having eaten here 5 or 6 times over the years and enjoyed a pleasant pizza and beer previously we paid a couple of visits again this year - the first was again for a pizza and beer which was tasty, well cooked and fairly priced so we decided to come back a couple of nights later for a proper meal. Biggest mistake of the holiday! the food was awful; the 2 entrees, a rabbit terrine and a Salmon mousse were virtually inedible being soggy, wet and tasteless, obviously being pre-made processed food brought in and heated up. The 2 entrecotes for the main course were virtually tasteless and tough and chewy but worst still I then found a mouldy coin in the salad !!. While the staff apologised there...
We visited with family and friends, who are local and live in the village. We visited on a Wednesday as our preferred restaurant was closed. We sat down and were offered the full menu and left to make our choices. On returning to take our order we were informed that it was pizza and salad only. We didn't find the owners attitude particularly favourable at this point, or at any point, our friends were actually quite embarrassed. The overall option of our party was that the food wasn't particularly flavoursome, in fact I ordered a Della None, described as Parma ham, parmesan and rocket however when I received my pizza, it was in fact salad, yes salad, on my pizza! We went to La Place on a quiet weekday. Together with one other couple we were the only customers. Our QR codes were properly validated, and the staff were wearing masks. We had foie gras and salade de chevre for starters, followed by duck breast with blueberry sauce. Excellent, but too big for us to eat, so the leftovers were wrapped nicely in alu foil for us, and served as dinner the next day. No room for dessert. The local Domaine Valcolombe Baroque rouge wine was superb. All in all an excellent meal.
We have only eaten at La Place / A Cote twice. Both times pizzas have not been cooked properly with raw egg and cheese in the centre of a pizza Calzone and another time a raw base to a pizza.The management just said that we were unlucky! Not to be revisited!Strangely the 2 restarants are effectively the same but the menus are not interchangeable and you have to decide which side of the barrier and which menu to eat.re

Too bad a little waitress who spends part of her time sitting and from whom we have to ask for a carafe of water twice and our neighbor who orders an ice cream, the waitress drops the biscuit on the floor and doesn't replace it strange so no more . During our stay in Regusse, we discovered the Restaurant attached to this one which is called A Côté . The pizzas are very good the products are of quality !! The service is impeccable. A lovely little find on a rainy Sunday night in Villecroze. We were made to feel most welcome. We had the dish of the day, lamb tagine and a beef burger. The food was so tasty and the service excellent. Friendly establishment Wouldn’t hesitate to return. You would not be disappointed.
But the lack of English wasn't a barrier. They did everything they could to explain everything to us to ensure we had a great experience and they succeeded. Wonderful meal. Great atmosphere. Good prices. I'll go back if I'm in the area.
