We live in the village and used to go to La Cascade regularly. The food is good if unimaginative. I liked the lamb which was tender. My husband had a bad steak tartare. The restaurant is central, busy and has a roadside outside terrace. Not the best view in Villecroze but lovely on a hot day. The reason we stopped going however was the feeling that Martine was unfriendly. Despite seeing us and recognizing us as regulars, she never once spoke to us or acknowledged us so we've taken our custom elsewhere. She has her favorites but not us unfortunately.
When we were heading for a week in Provence, I was hoping we might find that elusive set of circumstances a really nice typically french restaurant nestling under platane trees, a nice bar close by for a few beers before our meal, and a...load of old guys playing boules. And here it was the whole deal! and a super meal, far from over-priced. And a gentle stroll back to a fab little hotel in the Vieux Village (Villacroze). About as perfect as you could get.
We were wanting to try a different restaurant in Villecroze so decided to try this restaurant. As we walked in the waitress promptly showed us to a table. As we sat down a cat jumped off a chair at our table. We were given the...menus basic, grubby laminated ones. When the waiter came to bring us some nibbles we decided that this restaurant wasn't going to offer us the dining experience that we were looking for so explained the situation and left.
very pleasant personal, a very good welcome a great thank you to the cook who takes the time to prepare dishes with fresh and home products that is very pleasant, it was delicious.

we spent today in this pretty village and ate in the restaurant at noon, impeccable service, service staff with smile, very good meal .. to recommend
