L'Auberge du Bassin is a really nice restaurant, perfectly located in Cap Ferret, offering thus a perfect view over the bay (however high is the tide, the view is amazing).It feels good to sip a glass of refreshing White wine on the outside terrace, chill there and enjoy the friendly and particular atmosphere of the place. Then, do not hesitate to stay a couple of hours more and have dinner there : the service is friendly, the food is fresh and tasty, and the time seems to have stopped for a few moments.The prices are not the cheapest you can find, but that's it : you're in Cap Ferret !
A lunch time visit on the way to Cap Ferret. The restaurant is situated on the main route round the bay and there is ample parking at the side of the road. We sat outside and looked over to where the water would be if the tide was in. We ate the noix st jacques (delicately grilled) and gambas (flambed in whisky) – good choices and light enough not to curtail the afternoons activities.The total came to 56 euros and we considered this restaurant to be a pleasant place.
We were looking for something on the coast and found this jewel. We had razor shells, followed by octopus and a scampi salad. Pudding was a chocolate waffle and a lemon Meringue tea. Everything was delicious and the service was brilliant. The view over the...bay was relaxing and I would definitely recommend. We went a la carte, but there is a menu that is a great value for money. Try it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
My experience has been spoiled for the absence of waiter or waitress english speaking. The menu was only in french, and that couldn't be a problem if someone is able to explain it. The dishes i saw on the other tables were really attractive, nice looking and seemed good tasting from the face of other customers. I had the "assiette du bassin", a platter of oysters, shrimp, mussels, crab and other shell fish, that was one of the best I ever tasted. My son had the fish soup which was okay but the mussels he had afterward, cooked in white wine, cream and serrano ham were divine. The home made fries that accompanied the mussels were also very good.
okish tourist location. Eating is okay, but clearly overpriced. There are only a few restaurants in Claouey so this is one of the few options next to the oyster bars. Sitting and looking is nice and service ok, but do not expect amazing food.
Very fresh and tasty food. We are 7 gourmet travelers ordering and sharing different dishes, and it was absolutely perfect! I would recommend and return to this place again. Thank you.
