The reviews had me quite optimistic about eating here but the experience turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. We started with half a dozen oysters which were fine. I decided to have a couple of appetizers in order to have a variety. The first was a mixture of octopus, eggplant and chick peas. The octopus was very chewy, which octopus is; however, I had expected that it might have been braised or prepared in some way to provide a softer result. Or perhaps served cut into smaller pieces. But it came in large chunks which I found unappealing. Furthermore, the sauce was quite sharp and acidic which simply isn't my taste. I would not recommend this dish. My second appetizer was beef tongue...
If you've never had pig's feet for brunch before, this would be a good place to start. Our meal here was memorable. To prevent me from getting a heart attack before dinner, my wife ordered a tomato, cucumber salad which was the first to arrive. Red & green tomatoes and thinly sliced cucumbers were sprinkled with a light vinaigrette. I'm not a salad person but this tasted bright, crisp and fresh. Next, the highlight of the meal, eggs w/ pied de cuchon and spinach. What I loved about the way they served pig feet is that they took out all the bones and cooked the meat, fat and tendons to perfection. As it is, pork and eggs are a great combination - but the softness and flavor of this pig's feet...
Nous sommes allé dîner en semaine, j'avoue nous étions un peu pressés. Le menu est assez court, beaucoup de plats type tapas. Mon amie a pris un tapas de poisson avec endives, ordinaire...moi le burger, on m'avait avisé qu'il était servit médium saignant mais le centre était cru, j'ai enlevé la partie cru, il était OK. Les frites étaient très bonnes jusqu'à ce que je prenne une frite qui goûtait le poisson!Le service par contre nous a beaucoup déçu, lorsque j'ai demandé si se serait long on m'a répondu platement qu'il n'y avait que quelques minutes que notre commande était placée et fallait laisser le temps au burger de cuire, ordinaire comme réponse. Lawrence is a small, casual and friendly restaurant located in a hip neighborhood worth seeing if you're from out of town. The wine list focuses on Italian wines but has selections from other places and all the wines listed are exceptional. One of the owners (Christophe) will help you choose the right one and he and the other owner could not have been more helpful and nice. The food was top-notch too. The sourdough bread at the start sets the tone of excellence. I followed that with the lobster spaghetti, then octopus as a main course and a strawberry and cream tart for dessert. While visiting family we had Sunday brunch at the Lawrence Restaurant. Our nieces partner is from the UK and its easy to see why this is a favorite of his. British expat Marc Cohen has created a fun kitschy restaurant that will satisfy the most sophisticated British palate. I had the English Breakfast, the bacon was hearty and delicious, the eggs fresh and perfectly cooked sunny side up. Many of the foods used are provided by the butcher a few doors down also owned by Marc. We were there at the peak of Sunday brunch and considering the size of the place, the wait was a reasonable 15 minutes.
Quelle belle découverte ce Lawrence! Le plateau de fruits de mer en entrée: frais, varié; tout simplement délicieux. L'agneau cuit à point servi avec de l'ail des bois:Un régal. Le plat de fruit de mer ( calmar, homard, anguille), avec risotto safrané:un délice. La suggestion pour le vin était très appropriée: un accord avec poisson et agneau réussi. Les desserts un peu lourds et ne sortant pas de l'ordinaire mais nous n'avions plus très faim!
Looking for a place to eat before we headed to a Just for Laughs show. Did a last minute online reservation and sat at the bar. We shared the Charcuterie and pickled vegetables and order two small plates. Everything was very flavourable.The wine and beer was good and the bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Great food and service! Plenty of choices.. less familiar as well as tried and true favorites.. highly recommend and would definitely eat there again..very accommodating to midwestern Americans!!!!! Sommelier very helpful... Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Je suis allée bruncher avec un ami et ça valait le détour. Des goûts intéressants, riches et savoureux. Atmosphère très hispter mais qui rend le tout très tendance. J'ai adoré le service et la qualité du repas! À refaire!!!
