looking for a lunch in castres on Sunday in november proved to be a hard go, after a 30-minute walk through the city we had found every single restaurant closed. So, even if the medieval had offered nothing but fritted frogs, we would have gone....We had expected that we had a quick bit in a brasserie, so were not really ready in the understood and body for a formal French lunch, and did not feel in the position to do justness to the considerable 3 curs meal. So we went a la carte and ordered two steaks from the quite limited menu. we have paired them with a good value € 20 madiran, and in that did our table looked very medieval, as it was with a tin jug and tanks. the filet de boeuf was hug...
the absolutely charming mature waitress was charming. she was horrified that we would be satisfied as vegetarian with omelettes. we had found it hard to find a restaurant served on a busy Saturday night after rugby vegetarian food. the waitress copied. with a large number of guests who single handed still had them time to laugh and have a sweat, though not that we are able to speak in the other language. the hearts of our party enjoyed very the simple but excellent menu of table-d'hote. we loved the deserts. the dining room has many stone arches, low cover and a small balcony, which unfortunately is not suitable for the weather we had at that time.
We had a fantastic meal here this evening! Although the restaurant was quiet (it’s a Wednesday evening in March! , the food, the wine and the service and the ambience was just perfect! We also had a beautiful bottle of the 2014 Chateau Ricotte Graves- which...is amazing! We will definitely be back : Only tip: if you don’t have any French make sure to have your google translate at the ready!!
