We decided to stop for a late lunch at Legal Seafood while we were on our way out. For some reason, even though the restaurant was mostly empty, we were seated at a table in the back. Our meals arrived fairly quickly, and one of the dishes was quite impressive. However, I had the grilled shrimp with jasmine rice, and it was a bit of a letdown. The rice was dry and lacked flavor, while the shrimp were overcooked and tough. When we asked for the check, it came promptly, but then we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for the waiter to return and process our payment. We've dined at this location and other Legal Seafoods before and had enjoyable experiences, so I'm hoping this visit was just an unfortu...
We dine here frequently and are consistently impressed. The oysters are always fresh, and there's a wide variety of options. Other dishes like scallops, fish tacos, bang bang cauliflower, Szechuan beans, and the lobster roll have all been delicious. Most of the time, service is very good and prompt. However, during our latest visit, it took longer than usual to receive our drinks and to place our orders, which was surprising given that there weren't many customers during lunch. On the bright side, our food did arrive quickly.
As regular patrons of Legal Seafood, tonight was nothing short of awful. Greek Salad overdressed when it was ordered with light dressing. Greek salads do not have greens, especially in the abundance served. Entree was over cooked and the seafood was tough. For $45, I expected more. Chicken entree was dry and both entrees took over 45 minutes to be served. Tasted microwaved. Server not attentive. Never asked if we wanted drink refills. Had to ask twice for water. For the price, I’ll go to Ruth’s Chris.
When you want more than fast food at the Short Hills Mall, Legal Sea Foods is an ideal upgraded alternative. Service was terrific. The manager was making the rounds, checking in on customers. Dishes are nicely portioned and wine list has some very nice options. Overall, an excellent dining experience in the middle of a Saturday shopping trip.

I ordered the Mac n cheese stuffed lobster. The topping was burnt and the Mac n cheese wasn’t good. The broccoli au gratin was good but the broccoli needed to be cooked a tad bit more. My son said the crab sliders were good. The fries were really good.
I wasn't impressed. Food was just ok. Our salmon apperitzer had hardly any salmon on it and my jasmine rice with dinner was hard. I wouldn't go back. The service was very good.
Food took forever—hour half…thought seafood would be better…crabcake good but haddock dry and scallops over cooked and rubbery…for the money, expecred better—won’t return
While the food is a high price point, it's worth it! We treat ourselves every few weeks!

The food was excellent, but the portions of the protein were extremely small.
