On my second visit, I mentioned my previous experience without taters, and they generously gave me double the amount of taters. I appreciated that. However, on Sunday, May 29, I found myself at Mary Brown's in Fergus again and ordered the same meal: three pieces of chicken without the wing and with taters. Once more, when I returned home to Guelph, I discovered I had received the chicken but no taters again. If you decide to visit this store, make sure to double-check that your order is correct. As for me, I won't be returning; I feel like this place is a rip-off.
Fantastic service in a clean and modern setting. We enjoyed the Original and Spicy Big Mary sandwiches, both of which were outstanding! The potato wedges were cooked to perfection with a nice breading, and the deep-fried pickle chips were incredible! The chicken was both crispy and juicy! Everything could have used a touch more salt, but we enjoy a bit of salt, and that's what salt packets are for. We'll definitely be coming back!
I went here a couple weeks ago and bought a three piece meal for myself. I was so disappointed I asked for spicy and can you believe all they did was throw cayenne pepper on the chicken in big clumps. I called and complained and they told me that's how mary brown does it, well maybe this location but not others. Who just throws raw cayenne pepper on there chicken and calls it spicy.
I usually love Mary Brown's, but this experience was really disappointing. The staff seemed friendly, but the food just didn't meet expectations. One of my favorite things about Mary Brown's is the freshness, but on this visit, the chicken was cold and the bun was hard and seemed stale. It was quite a letdown! This was by far the worst experience I've had at a Mary Brown's. Even after confirming our order, they still managed to pack all the wrong drinks, sides, and dips. When I pointed this out, the staff just started blaming each other. There were only four cars in the drive-thru, and we ended up waiting 25 minutes!
The food was very overpriced for what you receive. I had to wait a long time for my meal—$18 for one dish, and it took about 20 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at the time.
I ordered the Frosty Feast today and I'm not happy with the fries. They were soggy and dry, almost like they had been refried. Unfortunately, they went straight to waste.
