Exercise caution when considering this restaurant! I attempted to reach out to the manager via Facebook regarding a deeply unsettling incident but have yet to receive a response. An employee named Dirce Zavaleta made derogatory remarks about a child with special needs while at work around noon at Maya Bistro. I have tried to discuss this matter with the manager, but they appear indifferent, as they have not taken the time to respond. I cannot support a restaurant that employs individuals who exhibit such horrendous behavior, as evidenced by the video in which they referred to children with special needs as "handicapped and down syndrome-looking children" and called them "stupid and ugly."
The food was fantastic, as always, and the service was pretty average. My only issue was with the bill. For two adults and a kids' meal, we expected to pay around $45 after tax, based on the menu prices. However, the actual bill came to $62. When I looked at the itemized list, I noticed that everything was priced about $2 to $3 higher than what was listed on the menu. There was no notice or announcement from the staff about the price changes before we ordered or paid, which was quite a surprise after we finished our meal.
4 star service with 1 star food. I am only giving it this many stars because of the waitress. Bottom of my food was burned. I asked for queso added and somehow my food came out dry. Entire meal was trash. My daughter wouldn't even eat the enchiladas she ordered. Before you question me my family used to eat here twice a week when I attended the bingo in the same plaza. Idk what happened but quality has went down since the pandemic hit. I left half of my food on my plate, as well. Food sucked.
I love the food here. I used to eat here almost everyday when I lived in Mount Olive. The staff are great, most of them have been there for years. I know they had to close the bar down during COVID but I look forward to when they will be able to reopen it. A margarita is the only thing missing when you eat here. I stop by Maya and visit with Mr.Freddy and the staff anytime I am in town. I would recommend them to anyone passing through, it’s well worth the stop.

They don’t serve alcohol, which was a bit disappointing since it was my first time at a Mexican restaurant. No margaritas? But the food and the waitress were fantastic!
Great place amazing food but y’all just had 4 days off for New Years and yet y’all still are closed this Monday what sense does this make
Awesome food, service, atmosphere. We eat here almost weekly and sometimes more than once in a week!
