I almost always get takeout these days, but it is a place with a classic ambiance to dine in, too. I love that they still offer some of their classic Thai dishes from the original Thai Pepper days, but now have excellent sushi and Japanese options too. The best miso soup on the Main Line. And when in season, their mango sticky rice is a special way to finish a meal. I have been a fan since the mid-1990s. Vegetarian options: I often order the massaman curry with tofu as the protein. I think tofu can be substituted for chicken/protein on any of the curries (red, green, or masaman). Did I mention how good the miso soup is? I sometimes get it to go because I can't resist; it makes a great lunch...
So, I ended up ordering chicken fried rice along with a side of dumplings and edamame. The portion of edamame was generous and perfect for sharing, which was a nice touch. As for the dumplings, I wish there were more than just three, but they were quite tasty. The chicken fried rice was pleasantly different from what I expected, in a good way.
I hope to visit the restaurant soon since it's close to my workplace. I think they should add more pictures on their website, but I was thankful to find some images of the dishes on Grubhub. I like to see what I'm ordering beforehand to avoid any surprises. There's nothing worse than expecting a dish to be prepared in a certain way, only to find that...
As a fellow South East Asian foodie, this restaurant gets my approval. Not only the food was good, but the service was excellent and the atmosphere, interior design and more were exquisite. The food is a healthy mix of Asian fusion, and an interesting twist towards Thai Japanese food. We came here on a whim and stayed because everything was amazing. It's a little bit on the pricier side, but with how fresh the seafood, meat, salads and more were it is truly understandable. Not only is the food cooked so well, but the plating is so well done. Highly recommend this place to people interested in Thai food, but also have a nice hankering for a roll of sushi, or two. Definitely coming again!
Since we were all quite hungry, we started with some appetizers. I ordered the spicy tuna canapé, and let me tell you, it was the best thing I’ve had in a while! I really enjoyed the crunchy rice component and can’t wait to have it again. For our main course, we chose the spicy chicken noodles, which were also delicious.
Overall, we had an amazing experience here! Just a heads-up: it’s a BYOB place, and we were a bit disappointed we didn’t bring a bottle of wine. I will definitely return with some wine next time!

The chicken was a little over cooked and dry, but the noodles were decent. The flavor was a little tangy to my taste and I definitely had way better pad thai chicken some place else. The service was so so. It wasnt that busy, but we had to ask the waiter for more water. Definitely not the first place I would recommend for thai food.
Mikado markets itself as a top-notch sushi bar, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the assortment of sushi I ordered. The other dishes, like the Peking duck, calamari, and spicy noodles, were just mediocre. The service was lackluster as well; we had to wait over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order.
We had a reservation and were told we couldn't have a booth seating because another party was coming an hour after us, cool no biggie. Took us 30 minutes to be able to order then an hour wait for our food to come out. Will not be back, only reason I gave it 3 stars was because the spicy basil fried rice was so good.
Decided to hang out with family and friends. The ambience of this place provided ultimate comfort. The food was tasty and well presented. The customer service was pleasant, attentive, and timely.. Shout out to our server Lynn!

We've been back a lot since last review, and during the COVID lockdown we ordered take out frequently. Mikado is way better than it was when we first tried it. The sushi and sashimi is very good. Service is fantastic.
