I ate breakfast here on a Saturday with some friends. A small cafe with a lovely open feeling to it, light and airy, the food was delicious. A nice variety of breakfast items, I had the oat porridge which was perfect for a late winter start to the day. Not a big cafe, it was full to bursting by the time we finished our meal. My only problem was the "art" on the wall, a huge poster with a blue background of a man's hand showing "the bird" (middle finger raised). I found this wall hanging (I can't refer to it as "art", it's just too absurd) so distasteful and ridiculous, I couldn't imagine who would want such a piece of art gracing the walls such a charming cafe. We have done this degustation of Pierre Roelofs dessert menu with my teenage kids - absolutely brilliant experience. We loved all of the items on the menu, starting with Test Tube Creme Brulee, then the Beetroot/Choc mousse and Hibiscus Granita with Raspberries..! Amazing how much flavour can be packed in one small dish... and the portions were just right so we did not struggle to overcome the taste before the next dish came up!
Food is hands down the best in the area. Delicious ingredients and consistently impressive. Diverse menu - something for everyone. The only thing that holds this place back from being epic is the coffee. Well made but the beans perhaps are just not the best and unfortunately I am always left a bit disappointed on that front. The cakes and cabinet treats are soooo good, I love you Milkwood, I really do!
We were in this area recently and needed to be fed so asked some local businesses where they would recommend. The verdict came back unanimously - Milkwood. Don't be fooled by the modest exterior. Though small, inside you will find a very chic and comfortable decor, great coffee, excellent food and friendly service. What more could you want?

This is a cafe close to us so we go all the time. It's small so you often have to wait to be seated. It has a one page menu and specials that change, the food is always good and the coffee great.
Sugar overload. Five courses of deserts. Portion sizes bigger than expected. Great range of flavours just a shame there was no alcohol to purchase.
